Overview The Cement Technician will work closely with employees from other departments including Maintenance and Shipping. At times, the employee may have contact with Customers and Vendors and is expected to act with LafargeHolcim’s best interests in mind. The incumbent is required to be knowledgeable of the plant process, quality and production requirements (training is provided), and operation of mobile equipment.

Perform quality checks to ensure mill is operating within quality specifications.

Other duties may be assigned Comply with all Department of Transportation requirements including but not limited to licensing, vehicle inspection, and hours of service. Inspects the truck as required at the start of each workday, completing the Driver Check-off Sheet which indicates that all systems are functioning properly. Drives truck to location for unloading in a safe manner Backs truck under batching or loading hopper to receive concrete.
Climbs the ladder, approximately 10-12 feet, on the mixer truck to view the load of concrete for consistency and amount, to inspect the drum for cleanliness. Adjusts the trailer axle pressure depending on the weight of the load. Follows written and verbal instructions to include city street maps and has the ability to complete necessary paperwork.
Maneuvers the truck up to deliver concrete to the point of delivery. Assembles concrete chute(s) weighing 35-50 pounds each. Moves hand and foot controls and understands and follows hand signals while operating the truck.
Cleans truck after loading and after delivery to prevent concrete from hardening in mixer and on truck. Sprays surfaces of truck with acid compound to clean truck and drum in accordance with company standards. Reads, understands and complies with the Safety Manual and Employee Manual.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES and TASKS
Must be available to work six days a week (Monday-Saturday) and occasionally on Sunday. Must be able to drive a maximum of twelve hours per day and work up to 14 hours per day as regulated by the Department of Transportation.

Unload concrete at the job site without damage to equipment, framework, utilities, etc.
Communicate with customer per job requirements, have customer sign ticket
Perform walk around inspection of vehicle after unloading
Complete wash down procedure at job site (according to customer specifications)
Collect money if job is a C.O.D.
Work with customer to achieve maximum customer service
At plant hit status head button and properly rinse out drum as needed
Return to designated plant according to ticket or dispatch instructions
End of Shift Duties
Wash out drum, fuel truck, and clean vehicle
Conduct p.m. walk around inspection
Write up any vehicle maintenance problems in truck log book
Report problems or potential problems to ensure vehicle is operable the next day
If it is a safety related problem contact the shop over the radio to alert them to the problem
Throughout the Day 1. Process required paperwork, i.e. time card, truck reports, and trip tickets
Maintain appearance and condition of assigned vehicles

Ensure mixes come out one after the other with no interruption. Just as importantly, the mixes must have consistent quality. Texture, temperature, and tensile strength must not vary from mix to mix. If they do vary, the entire operation down line from the mixing area is affected in an adverse manner. The mixer communicates with the line operator to be sure mixes are excellent.
