Reports to: Production Lead; Production Manager
Sets up and operates a production machine in accordance with established procedures and guidelines. These must all meet the specifications required by production instructions (PI). Adjusts machine settings to complete tasks accurately according to specifications and in a timely manner. Operates a computer and barcode scanner.
Operate and tend equipment or machinery to perform product assembly or fabrication
Summary of essential job functions
Operate manual and/or automatic machines, operate computers and barcode scanners. This position includes the following functions:
Hose cutting: Full cutting instructions can be found in assembly standard ABF-W-A-008-0.
Pressure testing –Full pressure testing instructions can be found in assembly standard ABF-W-A-013-0
Crimper – Entry Level – Full crimping instructions can be found in assembly standard ABF-W-A-011-0
Meeting or exceeding all team production goals on a consistent basis.
Observing equipment operations so that malfunctions can be detected and management be notified immediately. .
Wearing all required Personal Protection Equipment (PPE)
Performing general cleanup and maintenance of your work area.
Minimum requirements and prerequisites
All- High school diploma or equivalent; company indoctrination including machine operation and safety instruction.
Be able to stand for extended periods; be able to hear and understand warning tones and verbal commands; have basic computer skills; be able to lift up to 40 lbs. unassisted; be able to read and understand production instructions; be able to measure accurately using steel scales and angle meters. All personnel may be required to perform duties outside of their normal responsibilities from time to time as needed. All personnel must be available for overtime work according to the business needs of the company.

Extrusion Machine Operators will set up and operate an extrusion machine in accordance with established procedures, guidelines, and customer requirements under the direction of the production supervisor.

Packaging Machine Operator
- Perform setup activities such as mechanical assembly, tube and film roll placement, and loading of packaging materials.
- Assist with detailed cleaning activities in packaging room as well as other areas of plant on a regular basis. This can occasionally mean entire shifts of cleaning duties.
- Deliver a clean, well-ordered work area to oncoming replacements.
- Complete various paperwork including pre-operational checklist and semi-hourly quality checks.
- Make adjustments on the machines using Company-provided hand tools.
- Closely monitor packaging quality and makes necessary adjustments and communications.

MOLD PM ASSOCIATE – TOOL ROOM
With minimal supervisory guidance, performs preventative maintenance on plastic injection molds.
Works from prints or written/verbal instructions given by supervisor and engineering to perform minor repairs and insert changes on molds.
Performs various functions associated with shipping and receiving molds.
Works with database systems to document all tool related activities.
Disassemble and re-assemble molds of various sizes and levels of complexity

EDM Machine Operator (217321-942)
Electrical discharge machining (EDM), is a manufacturing process whereby a desired shape is obtained by using electrical discharges (sparks). Material is removed from the work piece by a series of rapidly recurring current discharges between two electrodes, separated by a dielectric liquid and subject to an electric voltage. Graphite is used as the electrode in a conventional (sinker) EDM and brass wire is used as the electrode in a wire EDM machine.
The purpose of an EDM machine operator is to insure that all machining is done in accordance with design intent and customer expectations.
An EDM Machine Operator must:
Be responsible for mounting the graphite electrodes to the holder for CNC machining to the necessary shape
Program and operate conventional EDM machines and wire the EDM machine to achieve results that meet the design intent of the piece that is being machined.
Perform complex 3-axis programming and machining with minimal supervision, to perform all duties in a safe manner, and to report any safety concerns.
Manage work assigned to him in a manner that assures the work is within quoted expectations for performance, quality, and cost.
Productively perform close tolerance precision machining as would be required for fixtures, punches, dies, molds, and similar applications.
Keep more than one machine running at a time, if needed.
Be able and willing to learn new technology as it becomes available.
Great attention to detail is required.
The operator needs to have a thorough understanding of the Cartesian coordinate system (X, Y, Z coordinates) and understand the program that is running the machine.
The operator needs to be able to learn how to use Mastercam to program the wire EDM machine and check dimensions for pieces being machined in any of the EDM machines. The operator will also need to use other CAD programs to interrogate designs for a better understanding of what is being worked on.
The operator needs to develop an understanding of the pieces being worked on, their function, and degree of accuracy required.
The operator needs to develop the ability to use standard shop equipment, such as band saw, drill press, mill, and surface grinder.
The operator needs to develop the ability to use standard shop equipment to make basic electrodes with basic shapes, such as diameters and rectangles.
Education and Experience:
Use of elementary geometry, algebra and/or trigonometric principles together with the use of complicated drawings, specifications, charts, tables, handbook formulas; all varieties of precision measuring instruments, NC/CNC equipment and personal computer to input data. Interpretation of data and measuring devices requiring advanced skills knowledge. Equivalent to 1 to 3 years of applied training in a particular or specialized occupation.
Knowledge of a specific vocational field, i.e. Moldmaking.
Application and use of variable measuring instruments and computers.
Quality and quantity performance standards under normal supervision should be attained in over 3 up to and including 5 years.
Apprenticeship should be completed or 4 to 6 years related experience.
Continuously lifting or moving material of light weight (up to 10 #).
Frequently lifting or moving average weight material (between 25# to 60#).
Occasionally lifting or moving heavy weight material (over 60#).
Must be able to climb equipment, ladders and steep stairs.

Machine Operator Class 1
This position is responsible for operating machinery to ensure the continuous flow of product thru the production process and insuring proper ingredients supplies are being used on the line. Responsible for monitoring and adjusting machine settings as needed and notifying supervisor if machines should require maintenance while maintaining a safe work environment and adhering to Tyson policies and procedures.

The Machine Operator - VMC is responsible for tending to the VMC cell with set ups and change overs. Under limited supervision, perform a variety of tasks as requested by supervisors and leadership.
