Description NAES Corporation is now accepting applications for an Instrument Controls and Electrical (IC&E;) Technician opening at the Altura Cogen facility. Altura Cogen is a 600 megawatt natural-gas fired, combined cycle co-generation facility located in Channelview, Texas, about 15 miles east of Houston. The facility consists of five GE 7E combustion turbines and one GE 7EA combustion turbine; five Vogt and one B&W; heat recovery steam generators, and one GE steam turbine. Combustion Turbine Units 1 through 5 and the Steam Turbine came into service in 1985. A sixth Combustion Turbine was added in 1995. Requirements The Instrumentation Controls and Electrical
(IC&E;) Technician is responsible for the maintenance and repair of all instruments, control systems and electrical equipment in the power plant and the associated facilities. The IC&E; Technician performs work of high skill in the inspection repair, testing, adjustment, installation and removal of all electronic and electrical power plant equipment and systems.
PRIMARY FUNCTIONS Perform preventive maintenance duties on all major equipment and systems as well as emergency backup systems. Maintain complete equipment files, logs, and drawings for all designated equipment. Assist in maintaining and controlling spare parts inventory to maintain plant reliability.
Assist in physical inventories. Participate in the administrative maintenance of the plant operating manuals, technical references, prints and diagrams and preventive/predictive maintenance records. Inspect repair, install and remove all types of motors, generators, transformers, switches, control equipment, wiring, electrical signal and communication systems, and storage batteries, and work with electrical systems up to and including 4160 volts.
Conduct trouble shooting and analysis on DCS, PLC and turbine control equipment. Maintain all plant instrumentation and electrical test equipment. Fully support and participate in NAES Safety and Regulatory Compliance Programs.
Complete other tasks as assigned by the IC&E; Lead. WORKING RELATIONSHIPS The IC&E; Technician receives daily direction from the IC&E; Lead Technician on assignments pertaining to the operation and maintenance of the plant and reports to the IC&E; Supervisor. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS Physical requirements include standing on feet for extended periods, requiring stair and ladder climbing and routinely lifting up to 50 pounds.
Protective equipment must be worn in the performance of some duties (e.g. hard hats, safety glasses, air masks, ear protection, chemical suits, hot gloves and high voltage protective equipment, etc.). Work with hazardous materials may be required. Position requires extended working hours and varied shifts with the possibility of weekend and holiday work, as required by schedules, work load and plant conditions.
