DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Instructional Support Technician is responsible for assisting with the Gross Anatomy and Neuroanatomy Courses and Anatomical Teaching and Research Program. Responsibilities include preparing and maintaining cadavers, human brains, and anatomical specimens for use in coursework, maintaining and utilizing prosection collection, setting up and maintenance of several teaching laboratories to include cleanliness, organization, equipment, inventory, and supplies, maintenance of the still and video digital images used in coursework, and helping faculty set up practical exams and serving as liaison for faculty in regards to anatomical specimens for coursework.
In addition, the Instructional Support Technician will be responsible for the Anatomical Gift Program at SUNY Upstate Medical University. Duties include handling of human cadavers, receiving, preparing, embalming, and storing for cremation, performing blood testing on all cadavers, serving as liaison with donor families, filing appropriate and mandated documentation with the Bureau of Vital Statistics, and coordinating sending and receiving cadavers to and from other institutions and facilities. Other responsibilities include the maintenance of accurate records, files, and documentation.
Bachelor's Degree in Science/Art, 2 years of relevant experience, NYS Licensed Funeral Director required. Must have NYS Driver's License.
