Senior Chemical Engineer
The Chemours Washington Works facility located in Parkersburg, WV has a Senior Chemical engineer position available. This is a highly visible, key role within the Company and the Monomers Team. This position will report to the Monomer Manufacturing Technology Manager. This role will serve as a lead Chemical Engineer for the Chemours Assets at Washington Works. The individual will provide overall Chemical Engineering guidance and support for the Operations, Maintenance, and Technology Teams in the Monomer Area. This will entail involvement in day-to-day troubleshooting in the plant, as well as support for improvement programs in the areas of Process Improvements, UPTIME, reliability, cost, safety, new capital installations, etc. The Monomer Operating Unit is designated as a high hazard process. Individual unit operations include but are not limited to: distillation columns, compressors, pumps, refrigeration machines, multiple alloys, reactors, piping, tanks, thermal oxidizer, etc. The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following * Act as a lead Chemical Engineering resource.

The principle function of this position is to provide daily operations support to the chemical processing and associated wafer handling systems in the SolarWorld’s PERC cell factory with respect to efficiency, yields, quality, productivity and cost. The Sustaining Chemical Engineer leads the introduction, maintenance and development of equipment for manufacturing silicon wafers and solar cells. The successful candidate assumes ownership of equipment, sub-systems or processes, and provides content expertise. He/she collaborates with production and maintenance personnel, manages specific projects and coordinates cross-functional activities with vendors, process engineers, facilities, and the IT department. Primary responsibilities for this position:
Optimize and maintain equipment functionality of the wet chemical process systems to achieve the best possible throughput, yield, quality and solar cell power.
Work side by side and provide guidance to maintenance technicians. Develop and sustain maintenance training and maintenance procedures.
Partner with purchasing to ensure proper spare parts supply in assigned areas.
Monitor production systems and performance daily and respond to excursion resulting in yield loss, quality excursions and low solar cell efficiency through self-driven, comprehensive troubleshooting down to root cause.
Implement and ensure execution of reliable operation routines to achieve best repeatability and reproducibility across multiple equipment sets.
In coordination with the operations team and the quality engineer, ensure the proper execution of quality metrics.
Own of out of control action plan to enable operations to trouble shoot and resolve problems in a controlled manner.
Develop operational procedures and train production technicians and equipment operator on proper and safe execution and verify compliance
Document changes in cooperation with document control, gather experimental data, report quality results, identify wafer/cell defects and thrive to reduce defects
Maintain and search equipment logs and production database, consolidate data for reporting line yield and monitor crucial process parameters to ensure highest quality and efficiencies of solar cells
Communicate with production supervisors and personnel to gather data, coordinate daily activities and training.
Other duties as assigned. The successful candidate will possess the following combination of experience, knowledge, and skills:
A minimum of a 4-year degree in a related technical discipline or equivalent work experience + 5 years’ experience in manufacturing equipment and system maintenance + 3 years’ experience in wet chemical equipment design and system maintenance
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and technical specifications and literature.
Hands-on experience in running, maintaining and modifying equipment as well as machine shop and power tools.
Experience in training and mentoring technical and operational staff.
Solid skills in PC and Windows applications.
SQL proficiency and knowledge of statistical data analysis is beneficial
Must have demonstrated problem solving skills, and must be willing to work in a team environment.
Ability to prioritize deliverables in an often-competing environment.
Must be able to work under time constraints and be flexible in regard to work hours in order to support 24x7 coverage.
Must have the ability to work inside a clean room environment and wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

Specific Job Responsibilities:
Maintain, with support of GCS and EHS teams, the GCS equipment compliance database, and own related code and regulatory compliance initiatives
Develop, review, and approve SAS site construction and tool hookup specifications related to chemical piping, equipment and the associated distribution rooms and buildings
Interface with site GCS and EHS teams to audit existing piping, tanks, equipment, and secondary containment meets applicable codes and standards

Working knowledge of IBC, IFC, and other codes and standards applicable to chemical system design and construction.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills including presentation skills are required for communication of technical information to diverse audiences
