The research and development Chemical Engineering co-op will work in the Advanced Process and Materials (APM) group. The responsibilities of the plant Chemical Technician will include performing technical and analytical services essential to the operation of a fossil fuel power plant, including:
Working safely and being accountable for your safety and the safety of your coworkers
Provide chemical protection of the steam generating equipment to minimize outages due to corrosion and deposits in the steam/water cycle components

The primary function of this position is to repair and maintain chemical etch and cleaning equipment. This position will act as a key member of the emergency response team.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Specific responsibilities of this role include:
Support the analysis, research, design and development of materials and their related fabrication and application processes
Develop and optimize materials for use in engineering design of and/or application in structures, systems and subsystems
Support Standard Work processes across all programs to deliver consistent results
Assist in the creation of "Product Family Mappings" for product materials
Work collaboratively with Engineering, Programs, Operations, Quality and Supply Chain to achieve optimal design solutions.
Apply principles of chemistry, physics and material behavior to develop metallic, non-metallic and composite material and processing specifications, fabrication and assembly processes
Education / Certifications
Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Chemical, Materials, or other related Engineering fields from an accredited institution
Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Chemical, Materials, or other related Engineering fields from an accredited institution
Must have GPA of 3.0 or higher
Must have completed 30 hours of college coursework
- Relevant coursework for Materials Engineering: Manufacturing Processes, Physical Metallurgy, Corrosion, etc.
