The Equipment Preparer I processes soiled animal housing equipment and prepares clean equipment for use; performs general custodial care for areas within the facility; and may assist with inventory assessment checks for equipment supplies.
Prepare items for the equipment washers, including removal of soiled bedding, sorting of items into similar batches, soaking designated items and scrubbing items that are especially soiled.
Preform housekeeping duties such as sweeping, mopping and garbage removal.
Learn all PPE policies and procedures throughout the small animal vivarium.
Mix and use cleaning solutions appropriately. Operate equipment washers, automatic water bottle filling systems and autoclaves.
Learn to perform environmental control tests to insure proper function. Learn to maintain records of test results as indicated by supervisory personnel.
Ensure that clean equipment has been processed correctly and shows no sign of residual waste material or other types of contamination. Become proficient at notifying the Lead of any damaged equipment.
Participate in material management inventory control, notifying supervisory staff of items that need to be ordered.
May participate in the transportation of items between the facilities.
Attend and participate in assigned training classes.
Perform other duties as assigned. ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS Have sufficient verbal and written English communication skills to be able to follow written and verbal instructions and assimilate training presented in English.
Ability to lift and move 50 lbs on a regular basis and sustained physical activities such as bending, balancing, stooping, reaching, and remain standing for long periods of time. Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment including scrubs, gloves, shoe covers, gowns, ear plugs / muffs, face mask, and eye protection. DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS High school diploma or equivalent.

The Clinic seeks detail-oriented and enthusiastic Tax Preparers to join our team during the 2018 Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) season to help administer our free tax preparation services to low income tax filers for sites in East Harlem, Midtown, the Lower East Side, Queens and Brooklyn. The position is a part time, temporary position running from mid-January to mid-April 2018 requiring availability on evenings and Saturdays. Proficiency in Spanish, Cantonese, and/or Mandarin, though not required, is highly desired.
Position Supervisor: The Tax Preparer reports to the VITA Site Manager at their host organization. Responsibilities include:
Tax Preparers will use TaxSlayer software to prepare tax returns for low- and moderate-income clients with a focus on promoting access to tax benefits such as the Earned Income Tax Credit, Child Tax Credit, and higher education credits. Tax Preparers will help self-employed clients in preparing Schedule C with income and expenses, and assist immigrant filers applying for and renewing ITINs. Tax Preparers will also provide information to clients regarding financial security, asset building, and debt management and refer interested clients to other Clinic or partner services.
Preparers are expected to meet performance targets. Requirements
A minimum of 1 year of experience preparing individual taxes; previous experience working at a VITA site highly desired
Ability to obtain Advanced certification through the IRS Link and Learn Training Program
Familiarity with tax preparation, especially Form 1040, Schedule C, and Form W-7.

Consults tax law reference materials to determine procedures for preparation of atypical returns. Answers questions and provide future tax planning to clients. Reviews financial records such as income statements and documentation of expenditures to determine forms needed to prepare tax returns.
Researches tax related questions and issues, and responds to clients appropriately and within a timely manner. Resolves client complaints, or refers situations to supervisor (as appropriate) for resolution Audits all tax return forms for accuracy and completeness (i.e., client signatures). Checks the hold drawer daily and contacts clients for additional information, as necessary, to insure accurate completion of tax returns. Monitors on-site client volume and advises supervisor when additional tax preparers are required.
Participates in call campaigns and other marketing activities. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE High School Degree or equivalent. 1-3 years of experience preferably in sales, service and or tax preparation. Previous experience in tax preparation and filing a plus.
Good communication, interpersonal and customer services skills. Basic knowledge of computer functions required.
