Administers the pre-practice warm-up and post-practice cool down for the football team. Motivates athletes to achieve the necessary gains to be successful. Designs integrated programs of weight training, running, flexibility, plyometrics, rehabilitation and reconditioning that will meet the needs of the individual student athlete. Organizes and implements the programs workouts in an efficient and safe manner, to ensure proper training effect for student-athletes. Provides instruction for the proper technique(s) to be used when training with machines and free weights.
EVALUATION: Provides information to coaches which may aid in the evaluation of players performance, attitude and potential. Designs and carries out testing programs to evaluate athletes for the various components of fitness stressed. Makes available basic information to professional scouts that may assist in evaluation of players.
EQUIPMENT: Successfully analyzes and evaluates new equipment and provides advice concerning the purchase of conditioning equipment. Maintains a clean and orderly facility. Maintains and schedules repairs for all equipment and facilities for safe use.
SUPERVISE: Provides proper supervision in the weight room, which will ensure maximum safety for the athletes. Supervises, trains and assigns duties to Assistant Coaches for Strength and Conditioning
RECRUITING: Assists team coaches in recruiting student-athletes by providing an interesting and enthusiastic explanation of the conditioning program.

Vesa Health & Technology is seeking a qualified, Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist to provide care at the Guardian Angel Preservation of the Force and Family Program Strength and Conditioning Support at Davis Monthan Air Force Base, AZ. - Education: The contractor shall possess a Master's degree in an accredited exercise science, health science, or physical education-related discipline.
- Experience: Demonstrated sustained experience working with elite athlete populations, with a minimum of five years aggregate experience. Creditable specialized experience includes: coordination of Special Operation Personnel (SOP) specific performance programs, or work with other with elite athletes (i.e. Division I collegiate, Olympic, professional level athletes or SOP-specific tactical professionals).
- Certification: The contractor shall possess and maintain current certification by the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) as a certified strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS), or be a licensed Athletic Trainer. Maintenance of this certification shall be an enduring commitment of the requirement and be the contractor’s responsibility.
- The contractor shall be physically proficient to demonstrate all prescribed exercises and techniques. may be asked to attend certain training to better understand SOP performance and injuries - contractor should be able to hike over rough terrain, function in austere environments, and able to lift and manipulate loads and plates up to 25 kilograms.
- Current certification in basic Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) to include Automated External Defibrillator (AED) training.
- The contractor is to establish and administer effective strength and conditioning protocols to maximize the physical performance of individual Rescue Operators. These protocols will ensure tactical conditioning by monitoring and resolving performance trends while addressing individual needs. The contractor will provide routine fitness reports to the appointed commander/representative and maintain a professional relationship with the operators’ medical support staff to resolve problem areas outside their scope. The specific tasks to be performed are:
- Perform initial evaluation, design individualized training program, and establish records for all Rescue Operators within 90 days of contract start.
- Coordinate individualized exercise programs with the organization to ensure a safe and expeditious return to training of individuals recovering from injury.
- Design and implement physical training programs to ensure proper functional movement fitness routines for each individual Rescue Operator to increase energy system development, strength training, and power development
- Design and monitor physical training programs for personnel who are on temporary duty (TDY) or deployed.
- Perform routine (at least monthly) pre- and post- evaluations that will determine arm/leg/abdomen/hip girth measurements and functional movement screening that will determine Rescue Operators ability to move efficiently.
- Perform routine (once a quarter) performance testing that includes the following minimum (these tests are in addition to any mandated Air Force testing): Energy System Development/VO2 max testing (Government-owned equipment), Vertical Jump, Grip Strength, 90 Degree Static back extension test; Rescue Operator Fitness Test; Rescue Operator functional movement max performance Fitness Assessments
- Provide instruction and guidance to individuals on physical conditioning and injury prevention.
- Collaborate with registered dietician to provide routine (once a month) nutrition education and evaluation for each individual Rescue Operator to increase performance and transform body compositions.
- Refer all personnel under his/her purview with an apparent new or undiagnosed medical condition in writing to the squadron flight doctor for evaluation and treatment.
- Understand the unit’s mission and operator physical requirements
- Understand how strength and conditioning impacts mission accomplishment
- Understand operator scheduling issues and be familiar with training and deployment cycles
- Attend weekly staff meetings with squadron commander to review and evaluate physical training programs and identify opportunity for improvement.

- Assist with physical conditioning/rehabilitation supply inventories. Provide input to organization regarding supply needs and optimal equipment.
- Ensure equipment and facilities are properly organized and utilized, and are in safe working condition.

Associate Coach 1 - Strength & Conditioning
Posting Information Requisition Number P316 Job Title Associate Coach 1 - Strength & Conditioning Department Football Regular Season Job Description The Associate Strength and Conditioning Coach for Football will assist the Head Football Coach in oversight of the Strength and Conditioning Program for the university’s NCAA Division I football program. Essential tasks include: developing the day to day operation of the football strength and conditioning program for the football program, overseeing the football weight facility; develop sport specific workouts; and work directly with student athletes and the coaching staffs to develop, illustrate, oversee, and document the progress of the student athletes’ physical fitness and conditioning.
Provide oversight of nutritional supplements and nutrition; serve as a liaison to Compliance Office for additions or deletions to the athletic rosters; serve as a positive role model for the athletes; work to enhance community relations and perform other related duties or projects as assigned by the Head Football Coach. Required Educational Qualifications and Field of Study Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree preferred.
Required Year(s) and Type of Work Experience Two (2) years related work experience in the field of strength and conditioning on collegiate level, experienced weight trainer in private business sector, and/or S.C.C.C. or C.S.C.S. certification required. Preferred Year(s) and Type of Work Experience Four (4) years related work experience in the field of strength and conditioning on collegiate level, experienced weight trainer in private business sector, and/or S.C.C.C. or C.S.C.S. certification required. Certificates/ Licenses Preferred S.C.C.C. or C.S.C.S. certification required.
