Description This position is responsible for the transport and delivery of freight on time in a professional manner by driving diesel-powered tractor trailer combinations short and long distances, while complying with Department of Transportation rules and regulations, maintaining a safe work environment, and adhering to Tyson policies and procedures. #
Tasks This position is responsible for loading chicks onto Smithway trailers, deliver to farm and unload. The Chick Deliver Driver will perform daily pre-trip inspection on Smithway trailer and tractor.
The Chick Delivery Driver will be required to load and unload full heavy chick pallets. The Chick Delivery Driver will unload all chick boxes off that are stacked on pallets using a moffet loader at designated farms. The Smithway and tractor will need to be washed and disinfected daily.
All DOT logs and Keller logs need to be current. All paperwork is to be turned into Supervisor daily. These include Keller logs, DOT logs, daily mileage reports and daily post-trip inspections.
This position will also serve as a floater as needed in other driving position which may include some overnights and any other duties assigned by Supervisor. Applicants will be considered for any opening in one of the following departments that may include feed delivery, hatchery or live haul. Minimum Qualifications Working knowledge of production and marketing practices for livestock

- Discuss with supervisor the anticipated production, type of materials being moved, number of trucks, etc.
- Be aware of other equipment working on the project and coordinate to work with these other equipment.
- Ability to read, interpret and incorporate information derived from the manual for the specific piece of equipment being operated.
- Conduct daily pre-start up procedures, ensuring equipment is in good operating condition (check fluid levels, inspect, clean and lubricate equipment, etc.).
- Greases, oils, and performs minor repairs on tractor.
- Keep equipment clean, promoting positive public image, and enabling close range equipment inspection.
- Complete Equipment and Vehicle Condition Report (LAMP-68) weekly, noting odometer readings, equipment hours, needed repairs, etc.
- Parks equipment in a place that is readily accessible to the equipment mover.
- Maintain a positive attitude and team spirit.
- Reports to work on time wearing the appropriate attire.
- Must be able to work variable hours including daytime, nighttime, and some weekend hours, as well as, overtime.
