Tetra Tech BAS, a leader in solid waste management services, is looking for an entry level CADD Drafter/Designer for our Diamond Bar Office. Incumbent will prepare civil, mechanical, and structural drawings for various gas collection and treatment systems, as directed by our engineering staff.
The CADD Drafter/Designer will effectively prepare CAD drawings using AutoCAD Civil 3D.
Analyze sketches, notes and other input to determine and plan the best approach to develop and complete the drawings under supervision.
Prepare finished civil, mechanical, and structural drawings from complex sketches, notes, layout, details and verbal instructions.
Prepare grading surfaces, create alignments and profiles
Knowledge of P & ID symbols using ISA standards a plus.
Work with project managers and civil engineers to ensure timely project completion within allocated budgets.
Periodic inspection of piping and mechanical systems in the field for design and as-built purposes.
Associates Degree or Certificate in Computer Aided Drafting & Design
Demonstrated strong competence in AutoCAD Civil 3D
A good working knowledge of civil and mechanical engineering principles
Design, engineering, and drafting experience would be beneficial spanning disciplines including civil, mechanical, environmental, chemical and electrical engineering or aptitude
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, committed to project schedules and deadlines, able to work independently and within a team environment, and self-motivated.

This position is responsible for producing and editing all drawings for the Operations Center in New Roads. The Drafter position works independently and with a high degree of accuracy.
Originate functional designs and produce drawings based on system descriptions, rough drafts, layouts, sketches, calculations, and other design information.
Develop and detail elements such as electrical equipment arrangements, equipment selection, duct and conduit arrangements and details, grounding plans and details, cable sizing and routing, and other related tasks.
Perform required calculations for items such as cable sizing, conduit and duct bank sizing, cable tray loading, equipment clearance and material quantities.
Visit field sites to investigate and solve problem areas such as equipment clearances and to inspect the work being done by the contractors.
Plan and schedule work to meet established deadlines.
Update and maintain drawing files.
High School diploma
Minimum of one (1) year experience with an electric utility OR one (1) year of plant or design experience in instrumentation, circuits, or power.
Knowledgeable in AutoCAD
Successful candidates will be required to receive a rating of Recommended on the NRG Pre-employment Assessment test.
- Vocational or Technical school training.
Must be able to lay out a complete substation from verbal instructions.
Able to interpret applicable design specifications. Familiar with various materials and the use of vendor catalogs.
Able to prepare detailed engineering drawings and take-off of project designs.
Will do a considerable amount of layout based on standards and provides special layouts in consultation with an engineer.
Needs to have a solid working knowledge of utility operation.
Must be familiar with personal computers and able to utilize AutoCAD, spreadsheets, graphic, and word processing software.
A working knowledge of VP MAX STUDIO and/or AutoManagerWorkFlow is a plus
Review and maintain meter point location maps.
Review, maintain, and issue updates to the meter point one line diagrams.
Filing completed job files and update same as required.
Travel: Travel is sometimes required. Approximately twenty percent travel may be occasionally required.

Using computer aided drafting programs, the Drafter produces complete sets of shop fabrication drawings for shell and tube heat exchangers, from Corporate and/ or Plant Engineering designs, customer drawings/specifications and applicable codes.

Review specifications and extract applicable notes necessary for fabrication and inspection, resolving problems or conflicts.
Load design information into computer and generate drawings.

Perform file maintenance of individual computer system.
Miscellaneous duties as assigned.
Knowledge- Formal drafting training from accredited institution or comparable experience,

Skills- Must be able to use drafting hardware and software proficiently. RCS, CAD, Compress, Autodesk 360, Solidworks, & PVElite.

Create and transfer complete drawings following general guidelines, including, but not limited to calculations of materials, detail drawings and full site dimensions. Answers calls pertaining to drawing / layout criteria.

Position Summary and Responsibilities

Perform design and drafting services for internal and external customers focused on Engineered Wood Products (EWP) and/or Truss Design used for customer quotes, order material take offs, and manufacturing.
