The Multi Spindle / Brown & Sharpe Operator will operate machines equipped with automatic feeding and tool‑indexing mechanisms to perform turning, boring, threading, and facing operations including trouble shooting to produce parts, all of which must meet the dimensional specifications of the mechanical engineered drawing.

Multiple Axis-Laser Cutting/Etching Machine Operator
PERFORMS SUCH TYPICAL DISTINGUISHING DUTIES AS:
Sets-up completely and operates machine tools equipped with numerically controlled multiple axis directional paths and utilizes laser technology as a means of performing cutting and etching of close tolerance components of metallic and non-metallic materials, where it is required to have a complete knowledge of computer numerical control (CNC) controls including process controls and pull down menu systems, manual mode controls and selections, control intervention and over-rides, laser beam delivery and alignment,. Set-up procedures for the various lasers to be utilized and all safety procedures to be followed prior to, during and following the operation of said equipment;. sets up part and/or material utilizing tooling, improvising and adapting tooling, or making table set up established by best shop practices;. enters program data into computer either through a disc furnished by programming for complex programs, or by using manual data input (MDI) for less complex projects;. selects proper laser system such as a 50 watt SPE low power YAG, 450 watt JK 701 high YAG on the 1450 watt ARRO CO2 laser which is best suited for the operations to be performed; utilizing specialized tools and meters, adjusts and aligns all optics in beam path, adjusts rear mirrors, removes and replaces such laser components as krypton lamps and optics when required and fine tunes laser for peak performance. Sets laser parameters such as pulse height, pulse width and repetition rate.
Determines proper "gas" to be used in conjunction with the laser beam such as compressed air, oxygen, nitrogen and argon, where it is required to have a complete knowledge of the cutting/etching characteristics of the material being worked;. Sets up and utilizes the "view system" to monitor the operations being performed and to inspect the work at various intervals during the process being performed. May edit programs during the course of operations being performed; may be required to develop fonts utilizing Lumonics Fontmaster System. Performs rework to the level of difficulty of the operations described above.

An essential function of this job is the ability to work a 6am-6pm shift.
Our Machine Operators in Cleanroom, Lap & Polish (CLP), perform finishing operations at Silfex for its electrodes and semiconductor parts prior to shipping. In lap & polish, our operators use precision equipment with an abrasive slurry to remove residual grind marks on the surface and polish to a specified finish. In the cleanroom, our operators run the parts through an ultrasonic cleaner using mechanical means to separate impurities and subsequently through wet benches that employ proprietary chemistry to achieve desired purity levels through chemical etching.
