Circulating Operating Room Nurse
Under general direction, is a registered nurse whose function is the delivery of nursing care to patients having surgical intervention through the use of the nursing process and current standards of practice to determine and meet individual patient needs; manages overall nursing care in the operating room and helps maintain a safe and comfortable environment; care is given in a cost effective manner without compromising quality of care; and collaboration with other health professionals is incorporated into practice to meet patient care objectives.
The Circulating Operating Room Nurse is distinguished from other nursing classifications in that incumbents independently perform professional perioperative nursing work in the intraoperative phase of surgery in a trauma/acute care setting.
CERTIFICATION PAY: Incumbents in this classification are eligible for certification pay at a rate of $0.813 per hour based on his or her scheduled work week hours and not to exceed the scheduled work week hours for each qualified certification possessed up to a maximum of five (5) certifications.
EDUCATIONAL INCENTIVE: Some positions may be eligible for educational incentive. This incentive may be 2.5%, 3.5%, or 5% for incumbents in eligible positions based on completion of an Associate's, Bachelor's, or Master's degree that is not required for the classification.
BILINGUAL INCENTIVE: Some positions may be eligible for bilingual incentive depending on the applicable memorandum of agreement and the needs of the department. In order to qualify for this incentive, incumbents in eligible positions must take and pass the applicable bilingual fluency exam with a score of seventy percent (70%) or higher.

Examples Of Duties
Duties may include but are not limited to the following:
Ensures that the surgical room is sterile and safe for the patient and ensures that the sterile field is not compromised during the procedure (including surgical counts, time outs, positioning, and traffic control, and keeping a clutter free environment);
Leads and coordinates all communications and activities among team members, including using the white board, coordinating the use of equipment, and contacting other providers when services are required, etc;
Prepares the patient for the procedure and handles the preparation for the operating room before the surgery takes place (preoperative activities include patient assessment, review of consent and test results, etc.); and communicates with physician on any concerns raised by these activities;
Assesses the needs of the patient during the procedure and makes changes to the core plan as necessary to ensure the best outcome;
Collaborates with physicians and other health care professionals; and works with a physician to develop the care plan for the patient during surgery;
Provides direction to other health care professionals and ancillary staff who are participating in the care of the patient;
Provides oversight to other operating room personnel;
May transport specimens that require diagnostic testing to the laboratory; and handles and cares for specimens and appropriately documents the disposition of the specimen;
Orients qualified candidates and new personnel on hospital policies and procedures;
Must have a strong attention to detail, work in a high-pressure environment, remain calm in a crisis, and handle long, arduous work hours; and
Performs other related duties as required.

EDUCATION, TRAINING, and EXPERIENCE
Graduation from an accredited school of nursing; AND, one (1) year of recent full-time experience in an acute surgical care nursing/intraoperative setting.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Must possess and maintain a current, valid license as a Registered Nurse issued by the State of California.
Must have a current, valid Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification by first day of employment.
A Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing (BSN)
Possession of a Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification
Possession of an Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
Possession of a Certified Nurse, Operating Room (CNOR) certification

Thorough knowledge of: the theories, techniques, and practices used in advanced nursing care of specialized units, including an acute care operating room; medical terminology; hospital routine and equipment; and medicines and narcotics.

Description of Job
THIS POSITION IS OPEN TO CURRENT RESIDENTS OF COLORADO ONLY
Please note: Meeker Colorado is located approximately 225 miles northwest of Denver.
This position performs inspections of new or recertified housing for H2A visa applicants. There is regular communication with the statewide coordinator for H2A housing in order to ensure inspections are completed on a timely basis. Communication will encompass changes to program rules, documentation requiring emergency/extraordinary clarifications or new inspections.
Must maintain tracking tools to eliminate or reduce the need for emergency inspections. Must maintain contact information on program employers to coordinate and facilitate inspection related activities and needs.
Must maintain inspection files providing the ability to forward documentation to end users. Provide new inspection documents to Denver FLC, employer agents and employers via email. Inspect non-range fixed housing every year and inspect fixed range and mobile housing at least every 3 years.
In addition to the inspections, this position will manage the territory where the inspections occur. This includes scheduling the inspections; creating work lists; reviewing violations; and recording inspection findings.
Will be required to educate H2A visa applicants, responsible parties, and/or interested stakeholders about the adopted national and state labor housing installation requirements, including maintenance and operation requirements. This position will inspect and evaluate labor-housing conditions to determine if it complies with current codes. This position will then clarify the code requirements so the housing owners and operators can understand why their housing is not in compliance and what repairs are necessary to achieve compliance.
This position requires extensive travel to and from housing sites, often located in remote areas on dirt roads. Use of a personal vehicle may be required (mileage will be reimbursed). In addition, this can be a labor-intensive job which requires the employee to be able to climb ladders, carry heavy boxes of equipment, bend, stoop or crawl during the inspection process. Finally, due to the nature of the duties, this position may be exposed to conditions such as extreme heat or cold, dust or fumes, biting insects, or other environmental conditions that could be hazardous.
