Responsibilities This Engineering Technical center role will provide discipline leadership in Civil Engineering including technical application of civil engineering concepts such as structural engineering, building and fire code applications, and other relevant civil engineering aspects. In addition, this role will also bolster the architectural discipline in the company. Knowledge sharing, communications, and mentoring of junior talent are all key aspects of this role. This role will also provide technical consultation to sites on facility and civil engineering topics, support major capital projects, and network with the external community at large.
Technical and Discipline leadership – civil, structural, and architectural engineering consultant, with special emphasis on code compliance; partner with other senior technical staff to direct civil discipline activities including technology assessments and coaching and mentorship of junior engineering staff.
Productivity improvement – routinely identify and implement systemic improvements focused on improving cost effectiveness and stewardship of Lilly assets in plants/processes globally
Consultation - assist sites globally with technical evaluation, master planning, technology assessments, and specific problem resolution including troubleshooting and root cause analysis
- Provide ongoing technical support to site plant engineering groups, domestic and global; provide technical mentoring to Lilly engineers; participate in the creation and maintenance of Engineering Standards, Master Specifications, and Best Practices

About The Position
The Engineer performs assigned responsibilities in the administration of Ameren's Dam Safety Program to assure compliance with Federal and State regulations and Ameren's corporate policies.
The position is primarily based at the Green Park Power Operations Development and Resource Center (DRC) with key responsibility for supporting the Non-Nuclear Energy Centers.
Key responsibilities include:
Responsible for development of civil engineering solutions, cost and schedule estimates, and preliminary designs associated with initial development and budgeting of dam safety projects.
Perform engineering studies, design, modeling and project management for the maintenance and renovation of existing Energy Center facilities and/or the construction of new Energy Center facilities. Similar engineering activities may also be performed at other non-Energy Center facilities.
Develop inspection procedures and participate in regular on-site inspections of Ameren's dams and hydro facilities as described in the Ameren Dam Safety Programs. These inspections will include the facilitation and supervision of consultants. Perform structural, geotechnical, and hydrologic reviews of these facilities.
Coordinate FERC inspections, annual FERC Dam Safety Inspections, and all state required inspections for Ameren's dams and hydro facilities.
Perform risk assessments to prioritize issues identified during inspections.
Work collaboratively with the hydroelectric plant management and staffs to ensure dam safety and regulatory compliance.
Assist in the development and implementation of dam safety training programs for facility staff and verify that the goals and objectives specified in the Ameren Dam Safety Programs have been met.
Interact with other Power Operations groups, vendors, contractors, architect/engineering firms, and internal customers to achieve Dam Safety Program objectives.
Must be capable of interpreting structural, geotechnical, and hydrologic dam performance and relating the conditions found to current design criteria and dam safety practices.
Maintain technical skills necessary to provide structural engineering assistance and guidance to Energy Center staff.
Provide civil engineering support functions to other projects and project teams.
Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited college or university required. Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification required. Professional Engineer (P.E.) License or active commitment to obtain preferred. Three or more years of relevant experience in in Civil, Geotechnical or Hydro Engineering preferred.

Candidate must have good analytical, communication and interpersonal skills. Candidate must also have capability to work effectively as part of a project team with the ability to handle and prioritize multiple assignments and projects. Local travel is required. Overnight travel is expected to be limited.

Bachelor's or Associates degree in Civil Engineering is preferred.
Strong Civil CAD Designer will be considered in lieu of Degree.
A minimum of 10 years of progressive work experience in the civil engineering field, related to job responsibilities of this position, including but not limited to: lay out structures, utilities, grading and paving in compliance with erosion control, storm water and general compliance with site requirements mandated by Local, County and State regulations
AutoCAD proficiency is required
Ability to coordinate with other phases of a project, clients and regulatory agencies is required
Must be able to interface with other disciplines on projects
Position may require limited travel
Knowledge of MicroStation considered a plus.
Civil 3D proficiency is required
