What would I be doing?
The Clocker takes official timing of the horses in the morning; provides support to higher level staff; and performs related tasks within area of assignment

Clocks racehorses during morning workouts.; utilizes marks and colors to identify horses on track and record names.
Must be proficient with the InCompass Race Track Operations Systems (RTO) and Equibase Ebase systems .
Input workout into Ebase system; print out and proof workouts on RTO system.
Be familiar with the different horse breeds, colors and markings.
Accurately clock horses at every distance.
Correspond with the starter to accurately identify and clock horses from the starting gate.
Possess the knowledge of the distance markers and their corresponding distance.
Correspond with the outriders to ensure safety on the race track, i.e., activate warning siren in case of loose horse.
Performs related duties and responsibilities as required.
What are we looking for?
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
(Related education and experience may be interchangeable on a year for year basis)
High School Diploma or GED, plus two (2) years experience as an Clocker.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: (Licenses, Certifications, Testing, etc.):
Possession of, and ability to maintain a valid TRC license within assigned state of employment.
Must successfully pass background check
Must successfully pass an alcohol and drug screening
Must be willing to work a variety of shifts to include swing shifts and holidays if needed
PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY:
Race clocking operation; broad knowledge of quarter horse and thoroughbred racing;
Accurately determine horse speed; use various forms of timing equipment; communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing; and establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.

Retama Park Racetrack is a class 1 pari-mutuel horse-racing track located in Selma, Texas a short 20 minutes from downtown San Antonio. The property hosts live racing on weekends with quarter horses running from June 7 through August 10 and live thoroughbred racing from October 4 through December 28; open daily for simulcast wagering. Retama Park features a wide variety of dining options including the Turf and Field Dining Room with panoramic views of the track, the Race Book & Sports Bar offering delicious fare enjoyed while watching simulcast racing or your favorite sports team; or more casual options at the concession stands throughout the facility.
