This position is responsible for providing engineering service and technical support to the Cold Mill Finishing operations with respect to enhancing productivity, improving yield and reducing cost. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: 1. Maintain a good understanding of all Finishing production processes and material flows.
2.Review "bottleneck" production lines in Finishing. Propose and/or address projects and solutions to improve productivity levels and/or quality. Work with area Supervisor, Group Leader, Maintenance Engineer, COQ Engineer and QC Engineer to accomplish timely completion of projects.

5.Track and analyze the effect of various process parameters (time, temperature, chemistry) on the finishing product quality, and suggest ways to improve said quality based on metallurgical insight
6.Periodically review the inspection practices/work instructions of the Finishing inspectors, including but not limited to measurement of the dimensional tolerances and mechanical properties of the finished material, as a means to ensure that these practices are in conjunction with current ASTM and ASME testing standards for the stainless steel industry.
7.Work with Quality and COQ Engineers, to ensure that any changes/improvement in the process flow/control is adequately documented and is positively reflected on the company's quality reports and balance sheet.
8.Track and analyze yield loss by product type, production line, and crew; and make recommendations to maximize yield based on trend analysis and/or materials knowledge.
9.Conduct research, perform data analysis, and communicate with floor personnel, to highlight and tackle problem areas of Finishing to reduce downtime and scrap.
10. Develop and review comparative benchmarking costs for consumables against other Acerinox Group mills on a monthly basis.

No more than 6 semester hours in math is creditable; OR A combination of experience and education to meet the total experience.
GS-6: one year of specialized work experience equivalent to GS-5 level. Examples of specialized experience may include overseeing and performing maintenance work in connection with range improvements; assisting in enforcement of range rules and regulations; assisting in locating conservation and range improvement projects; and keeping cost account records with responsibility for construction supplies, materials and the maintenance of warehouses; OR Successful completion of one full year of graduate education directly related to the work of the position; OR A combination of experience and education to meet the total experience.
GS-7: one year of specialized work experience equivalent to GS-6 level. Examples of specialized experience may include assisting in the management of public range resources of a district or other specified area by observing and reporting special conditions regarding them; and performing the detailed work necessary to complete specific plans for development of an area for proper range management and conservation; OR Successful completion of one full year of graduate education directly related to the work of the position; OR A combination of experience and education to meet the total experience.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Truck & Tap is a new beer bar concept that opening our third location in Downtown Duluth early this Fall. We have a rotating selection of craft beer from around the world, along with wine, and wine/beer-based mixed drinks. Our kitchen is provided by a rotating food truck. This is a fantastic opportunity to get in on the ground floor and grow with the company.
We're slated to begin training in August.
