Operator I - Cloth Inspector - Production
Responsible for operation of the Intra cloth inspection machine to include quality, safety and mechanical requirements. Operates light-duty bench- or floor-type machine tools and automation equipment. May set up machining machines and make adjustments, and perform maintenance on machines. Checks work using prescribed gauges, jigs and fixtures to measure close tolerances. Some machines may be numerically controlled. May monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures.
Must observe all safety precautions and regulations at all times in all areas where duties are performed. Will be responsible for reporting all safety hazards and potential unsafe working conditions. Must attend all monthly scheduled Safety Meetings.
Responsible for producing a quality product.
Run and inspect cloth according to specified inspection standards and as to construction for shipping rolls.
Arrange cloth rolls from hold table for Intra machine.
Attach ends of cloth together with cloth already in the Intra by using seaming tape and automatic seam to complete a shipping roll of various lengths.
Cut out all defects that do not meet inspection standards. (Ex. Oil spots, thin places and place where leno is out on the selvage, etc.)
Keep records as to what loom number roll was run on in each shipping roll, the number of seams, and the total yardage in the shipping roll. This information goes with each shipping roll that is doffed from each batcher on a ticket from the Intra machine.
Immediately report poor quality loom rolls to the lead person or the Weaving Production Supervisor so quality issues can be immediately addressed.
Report any unusual noises or circumstances that the Intra machine might make or cause while working.
Keep good housekeeping around his/her machine or area of responsibility.
Record total production run during assigned shift with a break down of yardage run by style and number of hours worked.
Total amount of waste by category at end of shift and record this information along with total production.
Wipe off main motor and fluid holding tank. Remove all strings from rollers and Intra frame. Clean and remove strings and tape from air guider. Sweep up around seaming area.
Unload and stack tubes.
Pull cloth from back of machine to rethread when needed.
Get loom rolls off floor and arrange on table by style.
Assist in putting bales back on machine at style change.
Help Team Leader carry waste to Waste House when needed. Sort waste and place in bins.
Change set screws in collars as needed.
Follow all safety rules, plant rules, department rules and implement total quality at all times.
Participate in Plant Corrective Action Team Program.
Participate in Plant Safety Program.
Report all unsafe conditions in a timely manner.
High School Diploma/ GED; one to three months' related experience and/or training.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
Ability to write simple correspondence.
Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other associates of the organization.

Our Los Angeles location is currently seeking a Cloth TD with strong skill set in creating dynamic cloth simulations and other realistic effects utilizing nCloth. Marvelous Designer is a bonus. This is a freelance gig through mid-April.
The Cloth TD will work in a team environment taking direction from the CG Leads to complete shots on a well known Marvel franchise.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Create photo-realistic simulations with high resolution geometry.
Sets up nCloth & Marvelous Designer for cloth simulations.
Work with our Character TD and animation team to develop the best solutions to individual shot delivery.
Extensive experience in pipelines as a Cloth/Hair/Fur TD.
Extensive knowledge in Maya nCloth for a variety of effects (cloth, hair and muscle simulation).
Knowledge of Marvelous Designer a plus.
Python scripting an asset.
Knowledge of Shotgun a plus.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Excellent trouble shooting and problem solving skills.
Experience with Hair/Fur a plus.

License and Certification Qualifications: Valid Georgia Class C driver's license required.

Responsible for the production operations of the Printing Office during assigned shift, including origination and pre-press, offset and digital print production, finishing and binding, customer service, shipping, billing, inventory, and other related processes.
1.Supervise assigned shift of the Printing Office to complete customer orders per the production schedule.
a. Align available staff, equipment, and material resources to complete customer orders according to order specifications.
b. Ensure that quality materials are printed in the quantities required and shipped by date communicated.
c. Monitor work flow and adjust staff assignments with fluctuations in order type and volume.
d. Assure that assigned staff follow the daily production schedule to efficiently and effectively utilize equipment.
e. Communicate shortages of inventory to the Printing Manager to facilitate timely ordering and inventory of raw materials and ensure stock is available as needed.
2.Supervise assigned Printing Office personnel to effectively perform job responsibilities.
a. Assess employee performance and work with supervisor to provide training opportunities as needed.
3.Assist the Printing Manager to effectively complete the programs, projects, and operations of the Printing Office,
a. Provide functional expertise to district customers for planning and procuring requested materials as required.
b. Respond to assigned customer telephone calls and e-mails in a timely manner and provide job cost estimates.
c. Support continuous improvement of printing operations by assisting in the evaluation of alternative processes, materials, and work flows.
d. Monitor assigned programs, projects, processes, and operations for compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and prescribed handling, storage, and operating requirements for safe use of specific materials, tools, and equipment.
e. Assist the Printing Manager with various reports and projects as needed.
4.Perform assigned pre-press and other document preparation tasks for orders per production schedule.
a. Review and process assigned printing requisitions in Digital Storefront, or scan and file hard copy materials to setup customer files according to order specifications.
b. Complete corrections to electronic document files using appropriate software.
c. Make necessary color separations of documents as required for line art and 4-color process printing.
d. Output printing plates for offset presses when assigned.
e. Pull and load material stocks and supplies for pre-press equipment output, including papers, toners, inks or binding products on equipment as required.
f. Output files to digital presses directly, or using a print management program per production needs.
5.Maintain offset or digital presses and finishing or bindery equipment per production schedule to ensure orders are completed and shipped in a timely manner.
a. Review daily production orders and setup and adjust equipment to run jobs according to order specifications.
b. Install, align, and precisely adjust basic mechanical components of the offset press including printing plates, blankets, rollers, and related parts as required.
c. Select and load proper inks for 4-color process printing, line printing, or half-tone printing on offset presses for orders and make color match adjustments as required.
d. Cut, fold, punch, collate, and bind quality documents on appropriate equipment as required.
e. Feed paper, toner, product, adhesive, binding, wrapping, and other materials as needed during production runs and ensure the equipment and work area are free of paper dust, scrap materials, and debris.
f. Record production and unload and transport completed materials to the next scheduled production process.
g. Package and return any unused stock, adhesive, binding, wrapping, and packing materials to storage and clean equipment and work area between orders as required.
h. Perform prescribed operator cleaning according to manufacturer's instruction or as indicated in equipment operator's manual.
i. Monitor press performance for signs of wear or damage and notify Printing Manager of service needs between contracted maintenance calls.
6.Perform timely quality control and shipping functions for customer orders.
a. Check initial output from assigned printing, pre-press, finishing, binding, and packing processes for accurate setup and product quality.
b. Make additional adjustments or return jobs to pre-press for correction as required to produce quality finished materials.
c. Maintain product quality during and upon completion of each production process and promptly make necessary changes to correct problems when discovered.
d. Cull defective or poor quality product and produce or obtain quality replacement materials as needed to provide ordered quantity.
e. Count, sort, pack, tape, label, stack, store, and load finished product in designated areas when completed for efficient and timely pick-up and accurate delivery.
f. Confirm materials for orders are completed and ready for delivery by promised date.
g. Review quality of work received from outside printers and notify Printing Manager of unsatisfactory materials for resolution.
7.Perform assigned documentation, inventory, and material handling functions.
a. Complete and maintain accurate records of production, material usage, and other related documentation as required.
b. Update production schedule records as new work is received and as orders are completed.
c. Inspect, count, receive, and store incoming paper stocks, inks, toners, replacement parts, and other purchased materials to ensure that correct items and quantities are received in working condition.
d. Identify and compare actual item receipts against packing list, bill of lading, or other related documents to confirm accuracy of records and notify Printing Manager of any discrepancies.
8.Perform other duties as assigned.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, or walk, and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, feel, simple grasping, pushing and pulling, and reach with hands and arms at, above, or below shoulder level.

As an Ink Technician, you will mix inks, adhesives, and coatings to match customer specifications to produce a quality material on our Rotogravure and Lamination presses.
AF Madison has a staff of around 150 co-workers. The Gravure Department is comprised of Ink Dept Lead, ink technicians, Operators, Assistants, and Cylinder Technicians.

Ink Technicians maintain the following accountabilities:
Job setup for batch ink mixing
Create ink room color standards
Return, store, and use press returned inks
Formulate color matches for customer approval (proofs)

Clean and use 6S to organize ink room and dispensing system

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Works under the general supervision of the Printing and Mail Services Supervisor.
Delivers and retrieves interdepartmental and U.S. mail, including office supplies, printing jobs, payroll documents, etc., between City Hall and various City divisions and agencies on established route according to delivery schedule.
