SUMMARY : Responsible for digitizing and refining existing patterns and/or developing new patterns for the high volume costume fabrication studio at Universal Orlando. Will be responsible for maintaining accuracy of pattern catalog for seasonally produced costumes. Will work with other production team members to develop markers that preserve maximum yield. Must be proficient with Accumark Patternmaking systems.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop new patterns from design sketches through flat patterning/draping and/or computerized pattern making using Gerber’s Accumark system
Modify existing patterns by digitizing hard patterns into system, using the grading function to size patterns into a range of garment sizes
Marker Making – batch process jobs to maximize and streamline output, view and estimate material usage to estimate yields, maximize fabric use by placement of pieces to be cut
Put detail onto outlined pattern part to indicate where pieces are joined, position of pleats, pockets, buttonholes and other features, do all pattern alterations due to fittings or required changes
Store information electronically, maintain a consistent system of cataloging patterns, communicate all information with fabrication team
Use and maintain plotter to print finished paper patterns and pieces
Understand and actively participate in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established Universal Orlando policy, procedures, training and Team Member involvement activities
Perform other duties as assigned
Must have 3-5 years of experience with patternmaking, preferably costume, swimwear or other novelty apparel.

After the engineering department designs a part and produces drawings, the pattern maker designs and builds tooling that the foundry can use to produce the parts.

Optical Pattern Operator
Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control has an opening for a Pattern Operator at the Orlando, FL facility. • Sets up, operates and adjusts a variety of photolithographic production equipment used to perform required operations and tests on production parts with optical patterns. Additionally sets up and operates manual, and computer controlled equipment, such as coat, deposition, cleaning, and similar photolithographic equipment used in optical applications. • Works under general direction and from production schedules, manufacturing procedures, process, and written or oral instruction.
Use knowledge of photolithographic process to perform production of optical patterned parts. • Operates and carefully adjusts parts and materials into fixture with proper alignment for operations. • Use manual and computer controlled equipment to apply pattern and deposition masks on optical parts to ensure proper placement of materials. • Works in cleanroom with delicate optical components which are highly sensitive, precise and require special handling. • Performs metal lift off and etch processes to create micron sized features. • Uses gages, microscope, electronic instruments and small tools to check dimensions, handle materials and prepare parts for subsequent operations. • For processing of optical patterned parts; uses small hand tools, scales and measures, mixes materials for processes according to production specifications. Set up certain processing units according to process specifications and instructions. Processes performed are one or more of the following: acid and solvent cleaning, coating, baking, etching, exposing, developing, stripping and aligning.
During processing may adjust and modify process within normal parameters to compensate for specific conditions. In case of major deviation supervisor and more experienced personnel will provide guidance. • Loads, monitors operation and unloads components from ovens, cleaning stations and marking machines associated with optical patterned parts. • Before, during and after process steps, performs checks and tests to verify that materials meet pre-determined specifications. Maintain production and operating records and logs to document processes performed, product completed, quality and operating data. • Checks product being fabricated/assembled for conformance to specifications and standard using manual and automated evaluation equipment. • Observes all safety precautions when using process equipment and hazardous materials.
Follows directions and procedures to maintain specified level of cleanliness in work area. • Cleans and performs routine and/or minor maintenance, tool repair and any other area related assignments as required. • Requires significant attention to detail for production activities and documentation to maintain compliance with Mil. Standard requirements. • Assists and familiarizes other employees as required; works in a team environment. • This position may be 7-Day Continuous operator working a 5/40 work schedule. Must have the ability to work 1st, 2nd, or 3rd according to the collective bargaining agreement between Lockheed Martin and the UAW.
Basic Qualifications Experience working in a manufacturing environment or with production equipment/test machinery. Experience with semiconductors, wet/dry chemical processing, or wafer fabrication/inspection. The ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, process plans and flow diagrams is required.
The ability to work in a 1k cleanroom and wear cleanroom attire for extended periods is required.

PURPOSE: To prepare patterns for assembly and to prepare soluble cores for pattern molding; wax welds multiple components using fixtures to maintain dimensional conformity; repairs wax patterns and soluble cores in accordance with quality standards.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: 1. Pattern Finishing. Objective: to assemble pattern components and/or make dimensional alterations to patterns.
Typical Activities: A. Reads techcards and engineering instructions. B. Assembles wax components into visually and dimensionally acceptable patterns; may use specialized fixturing.
C. Modifies patterns or soluble cores using various hand tools and wax materials. D. Inspects modifications with special gauges and other measuring devises. E. Occasionally inserts ceramic cores in wax patterns and maintains dimensional integrity (TBO only). 2.
Repair/Restoration Objective: to fix broken or damaged patterns and soluble cores and restore to dimensionally acceptable condition. Typical Activities:
A. Replaces broken features by wax welding fragments or by using other wax supplies to reconstruct missing areas.
B. Fills voids and reforms damaged contours by attaching and shaping stock wax. 3. Cleaning Objective: to work patterns and soluable core surfaces to meet visual inspection criteria. Typical Activities:
A. Removes flash, mismatch and other surface positives using a variety of hand tools and materials. B. Fills or patches negatives using paint wax, melted stock wax, hot pencils and other tools and materials. C. Completes dimensional integrity restoration and plugging of holes per techcards.
D. Inspects work for compliance with quality standards. 4. Serialization. Objective: to identify patterns with specified serial pads and numbers. Typical Activities:
