Manager Of Child Life Services
The Manager of Child Life Services will be responsible for the day to day programming of Child Life. The Manager will assist the Director, Child Life and Integrative Care Services to develop, implement, and coordinate programs and services for Children's National patients and families, to include the Pre-Surgical Tour program.
The Manager is also responsible for the supervision, continuing education, and training activities of the Child Life program. Will participate along with the Director and other department managers to manage key functions of the department—HR, PI, policy development and the budget.Minimum Education

Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Ability to use conflict management and problem-solving skills in complex and/or emotionally charged situations.

1.Implement strategic plan through management of day-to-day operations of child life services; troubleshoot operational issues and develop action plans to resolve.
2.Collaborate with Director on significant operational issues/barriers.
3.Assist Director to develop, implement and evaluate services, programs, policies and procedures, and performance standards to achieve departmental goals.
4.Assist Director with Child Life Services regulatory compliance.
5.Provide oversight of the Healthy Humor Red Nose Docs Clown Care program.
1.Assess and write patient care plans and developmental treatment plans, when appropriate.
2.Provide range of therapeutic services, including orientation to hospital, medical play, preparation for procedures, stress reduction techniques, behavioral interventions.
3.Organize and monitor play activities for the consumers of Child Life Services.
4.Provide supportive services to patients, parents, and siblings.
5.Use range of communication skills to assist patients, families and staff to address care needs and complex issues.
6.Intervene effectively in highly emotional or complex situations involving patients, families, and/or staff; use range of techniques including conflict management skills.
7.Provide follow-up services as appropriate and assess outcome of interventions.
8.Document assessment and interventions in the patient's medical record, in accordance with departmental standards.
1.Communicate with medical nursing, medical team, and hospital volunteers about patient care issues to insure continuity of care.
2.Advocate for patient and family needs within the hospital.
3.Organize patient care conferences when complex issues arise.
4.Educate staff about psychosocial issues impacting treatment plans.
1.Meet with Manager to review individual practice and goals, team performance, and department priorities.
2.Set standards to meet departmental requirements for documentation, submit information in a timely manner.
3.Complete continuing education courses to maintain knowledgeable about the profession's best practice.
4.Practice in accordance with the Association of Child Life Professionals standards.
5.Administrate the Child Life Internship and Practicum Programs.
6.Maintain strong collaborative relationships with Volunteer Services, PR & Marketing and the Foundation.
