Coating Assistant Machine Operator / 2Nd Shift
Company Profile- Permalite, the leading manufacturer of quality substrate is looking to expand to the Austin Area. Originally servicing the Southern California market, the company has continued to grow and expand business globally. Permalite recently moved into a 300,000 square foot building in Austin, Texas.
The Coating Machine Operator positions is an entry level position in the Canvas, Paper Coating department and part of a team that has accountability for the safe operation of the coating, canvas/paper machine or warehouse operations. Incumbents will report directly to the Coating Canvas/Paper or Warehouse Supervisor or departmental team Lead Operator.
The expectation is that individuals filling these positions will be self-motivated to learn all of the responsibilities within the operation to ensure complete operational flexibility so that Production/Machine Operator employee can flow to the work as needed. Production/Machine Operator position employee will also be expected to provide coaching, mentoring, and training to other team members to ensure the development of other team members.
Production/Machine Operator employees will accept personal responsibility at all times for themselves and assist where they can with the safety of other team members and contractors. This includes, but is not limited to such things as:
*Ensuring all safety rules and safe work procedures are followed by themselves and by
others working in and around the machinery
*All injuries and near misses being reported and followed up in a timely manner
*Actively participate in accident incident investigations
*Housekeeping standards and expectations are maintained
*Active participation in team safety meetings, discussions, and training opportunities
*Responsible for ensuring team members are following all safety procedures such as
Lockout/Tagout, Confined Space, PPE, etc.
Coating Machine Operating employees will ensure that all finished paper products adhere to the quality conformance and diligence specifications. This includes, but is not limited to such things as:
*Lead by example by being a quality advocate
*Providing support as needed to correct quality deficiencies e.g. product or packaging defects
Team Development :
Production/Machine Operator employees will be expected to take an active role in learning the converting equipment, processes, and systems. Additionally, they will be expected to:
*Participate in organizational improvement teams, e.g. Safety Committee, Quality
Improvement, Productivity / Cost Reduction Teams, etc, as assigned on a rotating basis
*Identify team member training needs and deficiencies * Actively train/mentor other team members to foster their development, including required safety training.

Coating Operator - 11:20Pm - 7:30Am - Building 3
As a Coating operator you will be assigned to work on a coating line. You may work in one or more work stations, including the face unwind, liner unwind, die, main console/winder and Quality lab. You may be proficient on more than one coating asset in a given location. You will be responsible for leading machine set ups and changeovers, problem-solving, coordinating preventative maintenance (PMs) and making decisions on machine adjustments. This role is for C Shift, 11:20PM-7:30AM.
This posting is for the Painesville Films Facility (PFF) and is subject to shift alignment. All interested individuals are encouraged to apply, with those currently in the PFF Coating department receiving first consideration.
In this important role, you will also be responsible for:
Loading raw material into the machine and unloading finished product.
Determining and controlling the machine cycle, varying and modifying as necessary.
Performing tests and checking product routinely for multiple characteristics, using standard measuring devices and making some judgments against standards that are not readily measurable.
Meeting production schedules and programming production sequences for optimal productivity.
Following standard operating procedures and specifications or instructions of higher level technical personnel. Monitoring meters, gauges, valves, flow ratios, temperatures, pressures and related controls and guidelines to ensure adherence to production/process specifications.
Maintaining production records and logs of equipment and product performance.
Following all health, safety and housekeeping procedures, policies and practices. Consistently working in a safe manner with regard to self, co-workers and manufacturing systems.
Supporting safety, quality and continuous improvement initiatives.
Teamwork: Assisting and supporting other team members in meeting department and site goals. Participating and sharing in performing all tasks necessary to run the facility. Contributing and participating in team decision making. Providing support in project work and other special requests.

b. Operates thermite melt line equipment, electric furnaces and similar equipment to react, melt and/or sinter raw material mixtures.
c. Operates lift truck, sizing equipment, wheelabrator and hand tools to clean, crush, mill, screen and inspect (white light, UV light and automated x-ray) work in process to create finished product.
d. Completes and maintains all records and documents to support work area operations.
e. When the assigned work area changes to manufacture another product, operates a forklift and uses a variety of hand tools to clean the work area to prevent the cross-contamination of product.
Disassembles and reassembles work area equipment. Thoroughly cleans all equipment, work surfaces and the work area for inspection by a Crew Leader or Supervisor.
f. Continually monitors the condition and operation of the work area lift trucks, lifting devices, manufacturing equipment, building and hand tools.
