Coil Winder - Machine Operator 3Rd Shift
Eaton Power Systems, Electrical Sector- Americas has an opening for a Coil Winder on 3rd Shift (11pm-7am) at the North Street facility in Waukesha, WI. Set-up and operate winding machine to produce coils, of various size, to specifications called for on winding sheet, winding diagram and order pouch.
Coil conductor configurations include strip, round wire and rectangular wire in various combinations. Essential Functions: 1. Read and interpret winding specification documents to determine characteristics required for specific coil to be wound.
Determine coil number, quantity and revision. Record coil number on coil and on labor recording paperwork. 2. Determine and install appropriate mandrel device on machine.
Adjust mandrel, end plates and/or tail-stock as required by window size specification. 3. Load strip, conductor and insulating paper to dereeling mechanisms on machine. Measure materials, make adjustments to machine to accommodate material and verify proper alignment. 4.
Places coil form on mandrel, wraps form/mandrel with paper, positions leads and tapes to coil form / mandrel. 5. Apply pack out as needed per specification. Repeats for each section. 6.
Folds, insulates and tapes weld pre-cut leads to strip stock of coil body. Winds major insulations, and applies varnish with hand applicator. Operates crimp tool to crimp wire to static shield. 7.
Operates machine regulating winding speed with foot control, aligning aluminum or copper strip to center of insulating paper strip and both to center of coil form and adjusts tensioning devices as required. 8. Inserts oil rib ducts and other special insulating paper at specified places in coil. Weld aluminum and copper leads as required. 9.
Verify proper secondary coil. 10. Make adjustments to machine (flattener, traverse and material tensions) to yield desired finished coil dimensions as specified. 11. Operates walkies and hoist equipment 12.
Determine adhesive locations per reference specifications and apply liquid adhesive with hand applicator at specified locations throughout the coil. 13. Insert cooling ducts, special insulation and component parts at specified locations throughout the coil 14. Wind coil sections per winding instructions to specified number of turns. 15.
Braze, or bend taps and leads into coil at specified locations throughout the coil. 16. Position and insulate leads per winding sheet and diagram(s). 17. Splice material per specifications as required. 18.
Remove coil from mandrel device by hoist and put aside to pallet. 19. Performs daily 6S clean up. Qualifications
•A high school diploma or GED (General Education Degree) from an accredited institution is required. •Minimum of 1 year of manufacturing experience or military technical training •The ability to work in the United States on an ongoing basis without company sponsorship is required. •No relocation is being offered for this position.

-Cut and remove defective coils, record data and remove insulation from core slots.

-Install and align formed or random coils in slots
-Replace defective coil leads and solder/braze connections of coils in specified sequence
-Test condition of windings according to EASA standards
-Prepare all reusable parts for rewinding and inspect refurnished parts for hidden, structural damage or unusual conditions
-Test rewound electro-mechanical equipment and document test results
-Operate specialized repair and testing equipment including but not limited to winding machines, test panels, surge testers, core-loss testers, cut-off saws, burnout ovens, bake ovens, grinders, cranes, forklift, brazing units, dip tanks, VPI systems and various handheld power and non-power tools, etc.

Core And Coil Assembler
2nd and 3rd shift
Must train, develop skills, and demonstrate proficiency in all of the following work center areas: E- Assembly, Core & Coil Assembly, Booster Assembly, Cleat and Leads, and Internal Wiring. In addition, may be required to perform repairs inside & outside of tanks in Department 32 and Department 36, as well as train other less experienced employees.
- Receive assignments and instructions from supervisor - both verbal and written. Follows drawings, Bill of Materials, and other established manufacturing procedures. Coordinate and communicate with supervision, planning, and Quality.
- Stretch and set up core.
- E assemble all windings to the Core.
- Cut fix and spread core clamps.
- Set up Pressing equipment and Press unit to Engineering Specifications.
- Lock in unit.
- De-rig and Top Yoke.
- Pull-in and complete Core & Coil Assembly for pre-lead ratio/inspection.
- “Opr. 35” outer cylinders, end pack out, footbars and phase barriers.
- Crimp & insulate connections.
- Assemble Cleat & Leads Assemblies to unit (HV, LV, Top racks).
- Build and assemble Booster Unit complete (set up core/e-assembly through wiring) as needed.
- Will, as required, perform repair work on oiled component in and out of the tank.
- Resistance Braze Coil Conductor Leads & Cleat & Lead connections as required.
- Make minor repairs and machine maintenance. Write work orders for the repair of tooling and equipment.
- Layout and assemble Cleat and Lead Racks for mains and boosters.
- Assemble NLTC to cleats
- Braze subassemblies (terminal blocks, bus bars, external assemblies, etc.) as required.
- Forward all paperwork to responsible personnel as required.
- Contamination control, vacuum, magnetic seeps and preventable measures.
- Keep tools, equipment and work area clean and orderly. Follows all safety procedures.
- Perform other work as required.

Winds new coils on armatures, stators, or rotors of used motors and generators. May rewind defective coils.

Tests coils for winding continuity.

Experienced Welders/Brazers are a plus.
This position is a full time, supplemental to direct position. The hours of the position are Monday
2:30pm. The rate of pay being offered is up to $14/hour.
