Color Formulator/Quality Control Technician
Responsible for performing a variety of duties to match colors and produce concentrate & liquid color samples. Develops color formulas for plastic materials.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Operates all laboratory equipment a safe manner according to the machine's Standard Operating Procedure (SOP). This may include the following: injection molding machines, spectrophotomers, ash oven, melt flow indexers, blenders/mixers, and other equipment.
- Performs color matching and quality control of samples with close or minimal supervision.
- Prepares color batch formula in the form of concentrate & liquid samples for use by laboratory and/or production in manufacturing of product.
- Compares finished matches and product with customer's sample to verify color compatibility.
- Maintains files containing color chips and formulas for each match for use as standard.
- Maintains inventory and retain systems.
- Completes required reports and clerical duties such as computer entry and filing.

Education and/or Experience

Compounder Color Cosmetics
Working knowledge in other areas of skin care like emulsion based products and hair care products will be added advantage to candidate.
Must have 2-3 year of hand on work experience in color cosmetics.
MUST be able to pass a color matching test.
Must be able to understand basic skin care ingredients used in skin care and color cosmetics.
Preparation of samples to be sent out to client for approval on daily basis.
Preparation/filling of large amount of samples needed clinical studies.
Able to perform routine laboratory tests including but not limited to pH analysis, Viscosity measurement, Specific gravity measurement, percentage solids, fill weight determination.
Completing/maintaining the documentation pertaining lab batches/experiments.

Help the R&D staff to get raw materials from warehouse for the preparation of lab batches.
Maintain the lab equipment calibration and keep them clean as per GLP.
Must have knowledge of working with word & excel program.

Color Quality Control Technician
PDQ Skilled Trades is now hiring a quality control technician will assist in the development of Quality Control procedures, specifications, testing, and verification of products. Products will include adhesives, mortars, textured coatings, and paint-specialty products. Additional responsibility will be to review and analyze incoming raw materials and other products. He/She will assist the QC Manager/Supervisor in controlling the quality of the product flow on site, raw materials, packaging, manufactured products, customer returns, etc.
Formula and batch preparation as it pertains to the verification of quality
Product testing and preliminary analysis of QC procedures and specifications
Monitor and record received samples and retains from QC departments
Keep accurate records in notebook and in electronic form
Maintain and calibrate plant and laboratory equipment
Keep a clean laboratory
Follow lab policies and procedures
Perform quality control tests.
Work with QC supervisor to carry out product testing.
Maintain test procedures.
Maintain laboratory equipment.
Maintain MSDS and technical data.

Operate a number of laboratory instruments (viscometer, Spectrophotometer, Hobart Mixer and others), be able to measure liquid and powders accurately and perform mathematical calculations needed in a laboratory environment. Be able to perform multiple tasks efficiently including but not limited to a minimum of intermediate/working knowledge of PC computers and Windows software. Good oral and written communication skills for tasks such as writing memos and report on test results.
Minimum requirement is a High School diploma or GED. Some college level courses in chemistry and/or previous laboratory experience are preferred. Ability to perform addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. Ability to calculate area and volume and to apply basic concepts of geometry.

The Color Matching Technician works independently, but must be willing to take direction as needed. He/she has full knowledge of all ParexUSA products and procedures involved with samples production.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Setup of printing press.
- Measure ring bearer hights on the press at the beginning of each shift and adjust if it is out of tolerance.
- Check for proper levels of ink.
- Hanging plates.
- Stir coating and check coating levels multiple times throughout the shift.
- Perform daily maintenance on press.
- Inspect and verify correct paper/stock is being utilized.
- Run samples and perform QC checks during operation. Check sheet density and dotgain on each job with Intellitrax and make necessary adjustments to keep density and dotgain in tolerance.
- QC each job at the press and put one sheet of each in the assigned area for QC.
- Print and place scan sheets on each load.
- Clean dry cleaning wheels at the beginning of each shift, replace if necessary.
- Keep ink stirred and even in chambers.
- Perform anilox deep cleaning according to schedule.
- Keep doctor blades clean to prevent streaks on the product.
- At the end of the job run, complete all required paperwork and enter the information into ProFIT system.
- Interact with Press Room Manager, QA Manager, Production Manager, and other employees as needed.
- Clean and lubricate press accordingly (daily, weekly, bi-weekly, etc.) as specified/needed noting any maintenance in the CMMS program.
- Notify Facilities Department, Press Room Manager, and Production Manager immediately following any issues with press.
- Assist and communicate with Facilities Department any issues to help troubleshoot the problem(s) with the Press.
- Notify QA of any quality issues or variances with the press (as well as Press Room Manager).
