Laser Printer Operator – 1St Shift
Hours: 6:00 am – 2:30pm, Monday-Friday with Overtime Required
Perform basic and detailed machining and assembly tasks to operate at least one machine and/or perform many manual / assembly duties. (Xerox, OCE & Danka)
Perform repetitious and previously performed work without supervisory and technical assistance. Assistance may be needed for other work.
Multi-tasking that requires focused concentration is expected to be learned – must be willing to cross train. Utilizes basic skills and experience background to perform machining and manual tasks.
Process transactions necessary for work situations that requires very good working PC user know-how. Improvising sometimes is necessary to solve work problems to maintain work schedules.
Work overtime, weekends, and holidays as work schedules require. In peak periods additional overtime is required.
Successful performance requires good vision abilities including close vision.
Education & Experience: Generally high school vocational orientated background or related education is preferred, and typically, 3 months to 3 years of fast pace, high volume production experience or similar background or equivalent combination of education and experience is needed to successfully perform job requirements.
Time classified in the specific job classifications does not automatically qualify an individual. In addition to the time guidelines, an individual must meet all other job requirements and a company approved job opening must exist.
Functional Area Skills/
Requires very good working knowledge and experience with PC's – keyboarding, data entry, and information lookup is necessary.
Must quickly learn (within 2 weeks) to utilize the appropriate modules of the computerized business system and to update most required work data information. Requires ability to stay under control while working with continually changing multi task work assignments in a deadline work environment. Must have basic machining and/or assembly skills.

The Printer Operator is responsible for setting-up, adjusting and maintaining the decorator and related equipment
Understands and complies with position related safety SOPs and work instructions, especially for Lockout/Tagout, Chemical Handling, Machine Guarding, Housekeeping, SQF, and Personal Protective Equipment. Check machines. Analyze types of mechanical or operational troubles and plan for and take corrective action to maintain quality.
Make changeovers or conversions by setting up assigned equipment for change in material, size or product. Check, test and measure product for quality specifications. Examine for visual defects.
Make repair or overhaul as required. Replace worn or damaged parts. Retime machine action.
Operate, repair, clean, lubricate equipment as required to maintain production. Clear jams. Check varnishes, coatings, inks, lubricants, supplies and add or change materials. Request or obtain additional quantities of supplies.
Examine, test and measure product from assigned equipment for quality specifications, using appropriate gauges and instruments and record date.
Perform Preventative Maintenance inspection of assigned equipment, report findings and take appropriate action. Perform maintenance work orders as required.
Notify supervisor of any incidences of recurring equipment malfunctions and corrective action taken and of any poor-quality material or supplies noted.
Operate equipment and assist as directed.
Knowledge / Skills / Experience:
Familiar with Personal Protective Equipment
Mechanically inclined; familiar with hand tools
Familiar with proper handling of chemicals/solvents.
Previous printing experience preferred. Basic dry-offset printing skills/knowledge.
Ability to troubleshoot litho/printing press issues
Prior experience in a fast-paced manufacturing facility

What You Will Do as a …
Operates high-speed production printers to prepare jobs for insertion and mailing according to specific client instructions. Prepares documents for inserting or mailing according to postal regulations and specific client instructions.
Starting Base Wage is $11.50 p/h (10% shift pay for 2nd and 3rd shift or $12.65 p/h)
Essential Functions/Job Responsibilities:
Maintains confidentiality of CDS and its clients' proprietary information.
Operates and maintains production and quality standards on all printers, mail processing equipment and computers such as: printers, guillotine, in-line production equipment, burster, folder, burster/folder, form table, tabber and cutter.
Performs quality and reasonability checks on jobs.
Performs adjustment to stock and machines as needed.
Sets up equipment to run jobs.
Reports problems to supervisor for proper documentation and reporting.
Lifts and carries boxes of stock to machine.
The above duties may be performed anywhere from 0-100% of the workday. Employee needs to be able to work in designated department/area and participate, if applicable, in CDS Global's ergonomic stretching/strengthening exercise program.

Strong verbal & written communication skills are required.

Color Services Trainee
The color services trainee will be part of the Coil and Building Products Color Services Team focused on one of the largest coil customers we currently service. They will provide custom color matches, standards, and PDS/EDS documents upon request. Candidate must have good intrapersonal skills as they will have direct contact with the customer. Since this customer is on the West Coast, they typical hours will be 10:00 AM to 6:30 PM Monday-Friday.
Provide custom color matching and panel request fulfillment in less than 5 days.
PDS/SDS generation in less than 4 hours.
Learning the INDX and Oracle applications to track requests and generate documentation.
Interact directly with the customer on an as needed basis to define areas for improvement.
Support Color Services by completing custom color matches, standard requests, and PDS/SDS requests as needed.
Bachelor's degree in chemistry or Minimum B.S./B.A. in Science field; 3 years' experience in color styling or color matching functions (coil preferred)
Demonstrated creative ability
Must follow established formulation practices and display excellent problem solving skills
Prior experience with customer requests (INDX) and PDS tools, MSDS generation, and environmental reporting tools (SARA/EDS) desired
