The Colorist position is responsible for final approval of all lab dips and bulk submissions. This includes evaluating all lab dips and bulk and making critical decisions to meet time and action calendar.
Evaluate all lab dips and bulk for fabric and trim. Determine what is and what is not acceptable and give direction to overseas offices and vendors to insure the color meets the corporate standard.
Identify color issues and make recommendations for solutions to the issues.
Build partnerships with overseas offices and mills to provide improved communication and faster and more accurate color approval.
Build partnerships within the Fabric Research and Development, Design, and Product Development departments to ensure the aesthetic is met as well as maintaining a fluid process.
Ensure mills and all overseas offices are following Talbots color policy.
Participate in weekly meetings with cross-functional team. Maintain ownership of communicating status of all lab dips, bulk status, and any issues pending with recommendations for action to be taken.
Keep abreast of color changes as they occur and act accordingly to update records and terminate lab submissions.
Track lab dip status from first submission to final approval. Maintain time and action calendar and maintain all target approval dates.
Maintain accurate and organized records of lab dips and bulk for current and past history. Mount lab dips and file in an orderly and timely manner.
Utilize the spectrophotometer as a tool to aide in color matching and to track mill/supplier's progress.
Create and distribute seasonal color cards to internal and external partners.
Knowledge and experience at a level normally acquired through the completion of a Bachelor's degree, textile degree preferred or coursework in the Color Industry
5+ years experience evaluating color, utilizing a light box and/or a spectrophotometer instrument, preferably in the garment or textile industry
Good verbal and written communication skills
Ability to problem solve and exceptional organizational skills are required
