What You Will Be Doing
Creation of photorealistic compositions as directed by art/creative directors and client
Follow production procedures and provide input for future innovation

What You Need for this Position
1+ year of compositing experience in a production environment
2+ years of Nuke/Photoshop/After Effects or other compositing experience in a production environment
Ability to provide a portfolio and/or reel of work
Ability to use extensive post effects to turn shots into high-quality visuals is required
Ability to develop high-quality grading and finishing techniques is required
Must be able to develop and integrate particle/visual effects
Understanding of 3D concepts and workflows to communicate with our 3D artists is required
Automotive compositing is a plus
Bachelor's Degree (Preferably in Fine Art)

The production-editorial processes involve coordinating many threads (e.g., proofreading and/or copyediting, design, author relations, proof review) on tight, and sometimes conflicting, schedules.
Editorial accuracy for these projects is exacting. The senior project editor maintains the highest level of editorial, production, and design quality of our books; meets schedules; organizes efforts of stakeholders, including authors and freelancers; and controls costs within his/her ability to do so. This position reports to the Custom Program Manager and is based in NY.
- Project Management
Analyzes and evaluates custom manuscripts to determine content needs (such as proofreading/copyediting and permissions requirements), and design requirements.
Prepares manuscripts for composition.
Collaborates with production supervisors to create and monitor schedules and make revisions as circumstances require.
Participates in status meetings with production and custom editorial stakeholders to ensure that editorial and production requirements are understood and carried out on schedule.
Monitor and communicate progress as needed from announcement of project to warehouse delivery of the completed volume.
- Quality Control
Manages freelance copyeditors and proofreaders on a project-basis. Coordinates proofreading/copyediting reviews with instructor and editorial team; reconciles all editorial changes to manuscript and proof.
Checks and approves all stages of proof, revisions, and final files for editorial accuracy and technical correctness to ensure quality standards are maintained. Reconciles all editorial and production changes/corrections to proofs. Is the final arbiter in executing corrections.
Reviews all stages of cover preparation from art/copy through final mechanical in order to assure adherence to quality standards.
Participates in annual editorial refresh of custom databases by managing the production, metadata completion, and ingestion of assigned manuscripts, and the completion of related projects.
Manages implementation of corrections to titles scheduled for reprint.
- Collaboration with Team
Works closely with other in-house staff to ensure the project remains on schedule and on budget.
Recommends changes to the project to solve specific problems, as circumstances dictate.
Works closely with instructors during production phases. Woks to understand the needs of the instructor and ensures that the instructor's vision for the custom title is brought to fruition in the finished custom edition. Communicates regularly with the instructor concerning the status of the project and supports the instructor through each phase of the editorial process such as providing instructions for reviewing proofreading/copyediting and page proofs to authors.
Works closely with production for assigned titles to ensure quality is maintained. Directs compositors with design preferences; monitors correction cycles; maintains composition schedule.
Assists the Custom Program Manager to ensure projects are evenly distributed across the team with consideration to deadlines and complexity levels.
A minimum of five years of publishing and/or project management experience.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Strong organizational skills to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.
Ability to prioritize, think critically, and problem solve.
Ready familiarity with book design, composition and page layout, and type specs.
Ability to direct and adapt to changing technologies and an increasingly electronic workplace.

The Compositor Temp combines computer generated elements into visual effects shots at the direction of the Lighting/Compositing Leads and Lighting Supervisor.
Perform all tasks associated with the compositing process, including but not limited to 2D tracking, matte extraction, layering of elements, color grading, 3D projections, roto/paint work
Implement compositing solutions for designated shots, utilizing base lighting comps and direction from Lighting and Compositing Leads and Lighting Supervisor.
Complete shots in an appropriate time frame while communicating any issues or slowdowns to Lighting leadership
Create organized and efficient compositing scripts to be handed off to the Stereo department
May be asked to light shots to Director approval level.
Bachelor's degree or equivalent degree in Fine Arts, Computer Science, Computer Visualization, or equivalent work experience.
Demonstrated expertise in lighting and compositing
Experience with and understanding of basic lighting principles
Demo reel required demonstrating strong artistic skills including knowledge of color, lighting, perspective, scale, and composition.
Familiarity with one or more animation package (Maya is preferred)
Experience in a Linux production environment is required
Demonstrated experience working closely in a small team with tight schedules.
Scripting or programming experience is a plus.
Skills, Abilities, Special Licenses or Certificate:
Traditional art portfolio demonstrating traditional art skills is a plus.
Ability to manage resources to achieve aesthetic goals on schedule.
Experience with Maya or equivalent is a strong plus.
Demonstrate the ability to prioritize and manage time well.
Expert knowledge of Nuke or equivalent is required.
Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
