Your future duties and responsibilities: Provides senior level network and systems integration experience as well complex systems analysis. Back-up to Program Manager Lead for Contract Program Control.
Coordinates and performs additions and changes to network hardware and operating systems, and attached devices; includes investigation, analysis, recommendation, configuration, installation, and testing of new network hardware and software. Provide technical consultation, training and support to IT staff as designated by the government.

Administer computer-controlled scientific equipment; troubleshoot hardware and driver conflicts.
Specify and configure operating systems to control desired scientific hardware.
Establish and/or maintain local storage and high-speed networks so that images can be efficiently moved between microscopes and image processing software housed on different workstations.
Develop research domain-specific data analysis software by working closely with individual scientists and implementing specific algorithms in appropriate programming languages (MATLAB, Python, Java, R, etc.).
Interface instruments with NIHNet, private LANs, local VLANs and with Biowulf and shared CIT computing resources.
Determine how lab data analysis can be performed on Biowulf, Felix or other shared CIT systems.
Manage a data storage and backup for scientific computers using available local, lab-specific, NIMH and/or CIT resources.
Collaborate with staff on hardware purchases; choose hardware that supports experiments and can be installed on machines complying with NIH policy.
Work with NIMH and NIH IT groups to ensure the configuration of firewalls and local VLANs and to ensure that scientific machines can communicate with local and remote resources over either entirely private network or VLAN.
Determine network ports and access needed for custom scientific software or hardware; configure scientific networks to support that access. REQUIREMENTS. The contractor must have:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related science/engineering discipline.
Minimum of six (6) years of related experience, including hardware, software and programming support for both computers and servers.
Acquaintance with Windows Server operating systems.
Experience with Matlab, Python, or similar programming languages.
Experience with software for image or signal processing or related scientific research tools.
Strong communications skills, both oral and written.
