Semiskilled work below the journeyman level in servicing and repairing a variety of heavy automotive equipment.
Work involves responsibility for performing semiskilled tasks in the servicing, maintenance and repair of heavy automotive equipment. An employee in this class usually assists a Heavy Equipment Mechanic on complex repair jobs.
However, the employee is expected to perform routine daily tasks independently. Supervision is received from a Heavy Equipment Mechanic Supervisor, and work is checked through inspection and through the performance of the equipment serviced.
High School diploma or its equivalent or vocational school and one (1) year experience in semiskilled work in automotive repair and maintenance at a garage. Possession of a valid State of Florida Commercial Driver's License (Class B) or higher is required.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENT:
An X endorsement on the Commercial Driver's License may be required at the time of application; or must be obtained prior to the completion of the probationary period.

Will provide assistance to Plumbing Mechanic by using , supplying or holding materials or tools. Will ensure work area, tools and equipment are clean.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Measure, cut and assemble new pipe, placing the assembled pipe as directed.
Assist plumber in layout, assembly and installation of piping for air, ammonia, gas and water systems.
Fit or assist in fitting valves, couplings or assemblies to tanks, pumps or systems using hand tools.
Disassemble and remove damaged or worn pipe.
Respond to emergency calls as needed.
Perform preventative maintenance on tools and equipment.
Other duties as assigned.
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required. Completion of trade/technical school or other apprenticeship programs is helpful. Minimum of one - three years prior work experience as a plumber's helper in commercial or light industrial settings is necessary. Ability to use power tools and equipment commonly used in the construction trade in a safe manner is required.
