We are currently seeking a Grinder, at our Cudahy, WI plant located approximately 5 miles south of Milwaukee.
This position is responsible for cleaning and rough finishing surfaces of metal objects with power driven rotary abrasive wheels following established practices.
Position responsibilities include:
Receives carbon, alloy, and high density steel stock requiring grinding
Checks metal surfaces for defects
Operates portable grinder, positioning wheel against metal surfaces to remove excess metal, fins, burrs, seams, defects, etc.
Exercises care and judgement to avoid damaging contour of stock

Roll Grinder is responsible for heavy assembly and regrinding of large rolling mill rolls. Duties and working procedures include:
Calibrate test equipment and maintain records.
Perform mechanical repair of roll grinding machines and fixed shop equipment.
Select, balance, and install grinding wheels.
Position rolls in grinding machine with pendant and radio controlled crane.
Rough turn and grind rolls to desired shape and finish.
Chamfer back-up rolls to prevent spalling or cracking.
Grind extrusion rams to desired shape and finish.
Check surface quality, hardness, and shape with profilemeter, perthometer, micrometer and caliper.
Develop, read, interpret sketches and blueprints.
Adjust, lubricate and maintain roll grinding machines.
Record roll grinding information such as downtime, tracking of rolls and operations.
Order parts and supplies.
Calibrate and troubleshoot roll grinding machines.
Perform sling/wire rope inspections.
Handling of LP gas transportation.
Braze, cut, weld, repair and fabricate structures.
Perform rigging duties to remove and replace major components of grinding machines and to handle broken rolls.
High school graduate or equivalent.
3 years journey person experience in machine trades with background as industrial machinists, heavy in cylindrical grinding.

To adjust/operate CNC grinding and balancing equipment including the replacement and adjustment of grinding wheels (to include CNC grinding wheels). Required to adjust offsets and perform program editing on all CNC and NC grinding machines.
Parts must be made to print and process specifications.
Maintain and operate filtration system.
Responsible for own set-ups, and for inspecting own parts, including in-process inspection records.
Responsible for following safety rules, producing quality workmanship, and for good housekeeping in and around the work area.
Completion of all associated paperwork and recordkeeping as required.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Core skills training in basic shop math, measuring tools and blueprint reading or demonstrated equivalent knowledge is required.

Grinder Opr - 2Nd Shift
To grind a variety of aircraft parts.
I. Plans and performs a sequence of operations to set up and operate internal, external, surface and centerless grinders to produce parts to close tolerances and a high degree of finish from various metals and alloys where standard operating methods are available.
a. Determines sequence of machining operations as applied to machine being used, selects proper chucking device or fixture and makes necessary set up and adjustments of machine. Mounts and adjusts grinder wheel trusting device and dresses grinder wheel.
II. Mounts and balances new grinder wheels when occasion arises.
III. Uses precision measuring instruments which may include shadograph, air bore gages, air plug gages, surface analyses, dial indicator gages, vernier calipers, and micrometers.
IV. Responsible only for own work.
V. Performs other related duties as required.

The Grinder Operator must perform a skilled level of work in the grinding of a compounded rubber stock that is applied to a customer roll. The Grinder Operator is required to monitor the progress of the grinding to ensure that the roll meets the correct diameter that the customer's roll requires. Assignments are received in the form of tickets that are on the schedule board and the plant factory order. Work methods and procedures are determined by company policy.
