SUMMARYThe Centerless Grinder Operator individual performs the set up and operates precision grinding equipment to grind lot parts in accordance with established shop practices. Performs work operations under supervision.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESOther duties may be assigned. Reasonable accommodation for disabilities may be made for one or more of the following:• Performs minor set ups and set up modifications in the operation of precision grinding machines to produce machined parts according to blueprints, router package, specifications and/or special instructions.• Starts and operates machine operation to detect out-of-tolerance machining and adjust controls or control media as required.• Sets up and operates machine on trial run to check accuracy of machine settings or programmed control data.• Checks parts for conformance to specifications using gauges, SPC and shop floor system.• Recognizes and remedies minor machine malfunctioning and in-process inspections. Grind roll up to 2,000mm diameter, 14,000mm length
Set up, adjust and operate external roll grinding machines to grind a variety of work contours to required finish and dimensional specifications. Tolerances close and exacting but not difficult to maintain. Mostly repetitive work where set ups are standardized and prescribed as to speed and feeds, sequences and the type of wheel to be used . Some degree of skill required to dress and shape wheels, set taper arrangement, allow for factors affecting dimensions such as wheel wear, temperatures, etc. Use fixed and adjustable precision measuring instruments.
