This position is responsible for learning the role of pastry Chef while producing attractive and high quality pastries, tortes, desserts and other products for the showcases, restaurants, and other stores to attract the customer.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Drive sales in the bakery by setting exciting, dominant displays, providing the correct product assortment, and providing help and education to our customers.
Bake and/or prepare pastries, tortes, wedding cakes, etc.
Order supplies and control inventory so as to keep the cost low and quality high.
Mix ingredients properly.
Maintain a safe and secure environment, adhering to all safety, food safety, and security programs, guidelines and regulations.
Keep up with current trends. Serve as a consultant to cake decorators, FoodE's, bakery managers and customers.
Greet and provide assistance to customers. Model the Lund Food Holdings customer service standards at all times. and ensure that the departmental staff are doing the same.
Provide in-store pastry promotional demonstrations, i.e. Meet the Maker.
Maintain appropriate stock levels, FIFO inventory management, conduct accurate monthly inventories. Minimize shrink by accurate ordering. Continually assess assortment to maximize sales and minimize slow movers.
Maintain pastry room in a visually appealing order, since it is the most visible part of the department.
Act as a back-up decorator as business warrants

Takes direction and is mentored by Lead bakers in order to better prepare themselves for advancement.
Guest interaction is a must. Must engage the guest each time they come to the buffet line. Explain product, ask question and build positive relationships with the guest.
Assists in work direction and mentoring Bakers Helper so they learn duties of the Baker position to be prepare them for advancement.
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Demonstrated ability to prepare a wide variety of food items, to standard, in a high-volume, fast-paced operation.
Demonstrated understanding and knowledge of the application of sanitation procedures.

Pastry Cook (Part Time)
The Straz Center has an ongoing search for part time Pastry Cooks. The Pastry Cook is responsible for preparing high quality food based on guidelines set by their supervisors. This position is responsible for the preparation of desserts and food services for the Straz Center for the Performing Arts for both on-site events and off-site catering.
The Pastry Cook will be scheduled to work on "as needed" basis due to event and show demand.
Assists the Pastry Chef with the preparation of themed desserts for shows and special events.
