West Steak and Seafood in Carlsbad is looking to hire a Line Cook and Pastry Cook. Our intimate and distinctive restaurant makes West the most sought-after reservation. At West, we provide the highest quality of chef-driven culinary creations prepared to your taste. Our restaurant is open daily for cocktail, and dinner service.
Our line cooks and pastry cooks are required to be familiar and consistently comply with with our standard portion sizes, cooking methods, quality standards, and kitchen rules, policies, and procedures. The ideal candidates will be familiar with a variety of kitchen equipment and tools specific for the roles. In addition our candidates must assume 100% responsibility for the quality of products served, and be experts in storing, and using food items and ingredients during the scheduled shift. Our line cooks and pastry cooks are expected to maintain a clean and sanitary work station area including refrigeration equipment. Prior experience in a fine dining restaurant is required as well as hands on familiarity with properly closing and turning over work area at the end of the shift using closing checklists for kitchen stations for proper storage and minimal food and or ingredient waste.
- Ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2 years of experience in kitchen preparation and cooking (will consider 1 year of experience with references).
- At least 6 months experience in a similar capacity.
- Must be able to communicate clearly with managers, kitchen and dining room personnel.
- Be able to reach, bend, stoop and frequently lift up to 40 pounds.
