Operate Coremaker to insure the correct manufacturing process is followed.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Inspect completed cores for visual defects
File cores as needed. Pack and Label completed cores
Perform routine operational maintenance on the machine
Report mechanical malfunctions and/or quality issues to maintenance and/or the supervisor
Responsible for routine cleaning of machinery
Transport finished product to storage area
Cross train from Redford to Shalco and Shalco to Redford machines
Work is repetitive.
Perform routine housekeeping to ensure area operates within parameters that conform to environmental and safety standards
Wear all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and abide by safety rules
Must report any job related injury and/or illness immediately to your direct supervisor
Other duties as may be assigned.
High School diploma or GED
Six months to one year of experience preferred.
- PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk, talk, and/or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand, sit, and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 35 pounds alone, 80 lbs. with assistance. Specific vision abilities required by this job include: close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Work in manufacturing environment.

Perform a series of operations and duties throughout the Casting Center, performing many different jobs. Make limited decisions as to quality. Works from verbal and/or written instructions, to perform a variety of duties including but not limited to the following:
May be asked to do any job from metal delivery to mold machine to clean up, relieve for breaks, lunches, and fill in when someone is off. Perform duties as directed by supervision. Maintain productivity and performance expectations. Follow Lean principles and adhere to safety regulations and rules. Keep work area clean and performs other related job duties when directed by supervision.

Foundry Specialist -- 2Nd Or 3Rd Shift

As a Foundry Specialist at Caterpillar Inc., you will perform a variety of manual and/or machine functions related to Coremaking such as dipping, inspecting and assembling (3 or less) cores. You will also operate and/or lock out equipment to clean molding floor and reclaim or dispose of sand in basement levels.
Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
Core box mounting
Mixing and testing core sand
Molding functions such as preparing pouring basins
Mold spraying, drying and/or venting
Operating punch-out and related equipment
Performs melting functions such as sample taking, slag skimming
Finishing functions such as riser breaking (floor)
Hand chipping, finning and wire pulling
Operates shakeouts, stand and portable grinders
Ramblast and de-finning machines
- Two years of prior work experience
Physical Requirements (with or without reasonable accommodations):
Ability to frequently lift and carry boxes weighing up to 35 pounds
Ability to stand throughout a 12-hour shift
Ability to operate heavy machinery and manufacturing equipment
Top candidates will also have:
Previous machine shop, foundry, or manufacturing experience

Starting wages will range from $15.74 to $20.59 based on qualifications and/or experience
Positions are supplemental (40 or more hours per week but with no vacation or holiday pay and limited benefits) on 2nd or 3rd shift
Positions are in Mapleton, Illinois.
