Primary Roles and Responsibilities:
Ensure full complement of crewmembers for all scheduled and non-scheduled flights.
Reroutes/reschedules crewmembers as a result of irregular operations, mechanical, weather sick calls, crew legalities, etc., in compliance with all applicable policies and procedures and update the CrewTrac system accordingly.
Secures hotel accommodations for crewmembers during irregular operations on short notice.
Books airline reservations for deadheading crews and books jumpseats for FAA and positive space crewmembers. Responsible for getting other airline tickets to deadheading crews for off-line travel, including the authorization for ticketing by American Eagle Customer Service Agents.
Reviews crewmember trip trade requests.
Updates FLICA Internet Service with crewmember schedule information and open time availability.
Provide assistance with payroll reconciliation regarding Crew Scheduling adjustments.
Prepares various reports on crewmember sick calls, irregularities, and other daily operational information. Requirements Required Education and Experience:

The City of Eau Claire is looking for a reliable, hardworking individual to fill a Seasonal Survey Crew Chief position. This position performs services in the field and office requiring specialized technical abilities in the preparation of plans and operation of a survey crew.
This position is responsible for performing duties as assigned, employing checks to maintain a high degree of accuracy, and detecting/relating any potential construction issues to the City Surveyor. North Carolina Forest Service (NCFS) Aviation Division Pilots provide aerial suppression of wild fires in designated areas of North Carolina and support a variety of missions including forest protection, forest management, search and rescue, passenger and supply delivery, fire reconnaissance, and other aerial support to an Incident Commander that may be deemed necessary.
The primary purpose of this position is: Helicopter mechanic/crew-chief based at the NCFS facility located in Hickory, North Carolina.
Position will be responsible for the general upkeep and maintenance on the NCFS helicopters. Will be assigned to Bell UH-1H helicopter. Duties entail daily inspections, 100 hour inspections, annual and phase inspections, and all unscheduled maintenance.
A majority of the work will be accomplished in field conditions. Will also be flying on most missions as a crew chief, with duties including external load, bucket operations, operations of aerial ignition system, and personnel transport. This position will be required to travel throughout the state as required for helicopter maintenance and manning.
May be required to travel 12 days continuously with 14 hour duty days. Position is in a team environment and maintenance assistance on fixed wing aircraft is expected.

The Survey Crew Chief reports directly to the Survey Manager. The Crew Chief's primary role is to lead and manage survey crew daily operations with his assigned crew including, but not limited to, supervising instrument/rod persons, managing materials and equipment, quality control, jobsite and coordinating with other foremen and superintendents for the best utilization of PSCC resources.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB
Be able to read and have a thorough understanding of construction plans as related to survey work.
Execute work according to plans and directives received from the Survey manager/Superintendent. Communicate regularly and effectively with the Survey manager/Superintendent.
Engage in a high level of competence with all technical components of Survey work. (Includes computations, interpreting plan and elevations, construction layout, roadway & Utilities, finish grading, As-built etc.)
Know what resources are included in the assigned work and manage accordingly. (Permanent materials, construction materials, equipment, small tools, etc.)
Know and understand the production schedule of the work being performed. If production goals are not provided, always ask. Without compromising safety, always strive to maintain the production schedule.
Maintain accurate and "hard" short term schedules. ALWAYS run your project, DO NOT let it run you. A Crew Chief should always strive to have a schedule for activity one week ahead, at a minimum.
Minimize crew downtime. Always have a back-up plan of work to be performed if your original plan of work is stopped due to timeline setbacks, plan changes, etc.
Know the Petticoat-Schmitt safety rules and all O.S.H.A. rules. Maintain safety compliance on all projects. You are the safety manager. Lead others and hold everyone the jobsite accountable. Safety is always first. Plan for safety, always!
Always start the day and new work activities with a Job Briefing. Make Job Briefings a part of your crew culture. On occasion, allow other crew members to do Job Briefings.
Ensure that all project documentation is timely and accurate, be proactive in obtaining addendums to plans and update your set accordingly. (billing data, change orders, time sheets, production reports, daily reports, short term schedules, force account info, locates, Environmental reports, near-miss reports, accident reports., etc.)
Maintain the survey materials, the unloading, storing and installation. You are responsible for the materials involved in your work.
Maintain the quality of the work performed by your crew at all times.
Keep a clean and organized worksite. Hold crew members to strict standards.
Keep trash to a minimum. Designate parking areas, keep equipment organized, and maintained.
Know and understand the quality control standards required in the plans and specifications. (I.E. Datum, standard year being used, etc.) Construct all work according to plans and specifications.
Do NOT be the "fast" Crew Chief who leaves a sloppy layout, poorly obtained data, damaged equipment and a sloppy work site in his trail.
Mistakes can happen, but avoid rework at all costs. We only get paid once for all work.
Keep jobsite environmentally compliant. Be aware of erosion issues and discharge of water from dewatering operations. If you see something say something to the Superintendent.
Work with the Shop Superintendent regarding equipment maintenance schedule and mechanical needs. Work together to minimize downtime and maintain the integrity of the equipment fleet. Do not tolerate abuse or neglect of equipment by PSCC employees.
Evaluate and dictate employee performance according to PSCC standards. Assist in evaluating, hiring and firing of your crew members.
Provide leadership, motivation and mentoring to your crew members. Be a team player as well as a team leader. To your crew, YOU ARE Petticoat-Schmitt. Lead and act accordingly.
Hold your crew accountable for all codes of conduct including but not limited to, attendance, late arrivals, P.P.E. compliance, safety compliance, work ethic, appearance, etc.
Maintain current training in all applicable industry education. (Competent person, confined space, O.S.H.A. 10 hour, CPR/First Aid, NPDES inspection, and any other PSCC training.)
Commit to self improvement and personal growth. Attend "off-hour" training and seminars for training and personal development.
Be dependable. Be the "go to" guy when a superintendent needs to get something done without worrying about it being done safely, quickly and accurately.
Provide positive inspector and client relations as well as maintaining a good company and industry image. Maintain a good attitude when representing Petticoat-Schmitt in public.

Certified Survey Technician, Level II or III (CST) or ability to obtain within specified timeframe
Utility designating experience a plus
Excellent communication skills
Must be reliable
Have the ability to work out of town, flexible with work area
Must have a valid driver's license and clean driving record
Physically able to work outdoors in all weather conditions and terrains
Ability to repetitively stoop, crawl, bend at the knees and waist, squat and lift 50 lbs; includes body weight, equipment, tools and boxes, in addition to ability to stand for long periods of time on varied surfaces
