MANUFACTURING ENGINEER- RUBBER MOLDING: The Manufacturing Engineer Rubber Molding plans, directs and coordinates the manufacturing molding and assembly processes in the plant. The candidate will collaborate with internal and outside partners to ensure production rates are met and all production equipment issues are resolved in a thorough and timely manner.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Monitor production to standard and work with cross functional teams to drive improvement of production processes where standards are not met
Provide on-going technical and hands-on trouble shooting support for molding and assembly processes.
Develop work plans, track project status, and execute multiple projects simultaneously
Create and implement effective preventative maintenance plans for mold tooling as well as related manufacturing equipment
Work closely with mold tooling and equipment suppliers as necessary to support production needs
Support design and development of rubber molding and assembly processes
Uses statistics to analyze molding and assembly process capability and performance
Understand and apply structured problem solving methods
Maximize efficiency by analyzing layout of equipment and production methods. Recommend alternative approaches for manufacturing methods, processes and equipment as necessary
When required, represent company in industry standards groups, committees, and boards
Follow all Maclean-Fogg's Environmental, Health & Safety and Quality policies and guidelines
Must have a basic understanding of rubber to substrate bonding and chemicals used
Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills

Job Description: Summary
Reports to the Business Unit Engineering Supervisor. Responsible for the implementation of project and process support activities toward attainment of departmental and plant goals. Primary focus in areas of capacity expansion, quality/waste improvement and cost improvement programs. Required to handle multiple assignments of varying scope and complexity.
Has a solid knowledge and understanding and compliance with established plant safety standards including Lockout / Tagout, NFPA 70E Electrical Safe Work Practices, and OSHA Subpart "O" for proper machine guarding just to mention a few.
Acts as a safety leader for all technical associates and sets the example for safe work habits and rule compliance so as to keep safety the number one priority at all times.
Responsible for the design and implementation of machine improvements and capital equipment project management activities.
Has an applicable knowledge and ability to utilize AutoCAD and/or SolidWorks for mechanical design improvements.
Ensures that all preventative maintenance is completed on his/her assigned areas of responsibility in an accurate and timely fashion. Assesses each unplanned downtime event for design improvement or potential changes to the PM in order to prevent similar events ongoing. Executes reliability opportunities and leverages learnings with other engineering personnel for application on lines with similar opportunities.

Ensure quality production of rubber to be used in the manufacturing process.
Must follow rubber mixing process according to instructions
Set-up and adjust machines as required.
Operate rubber mixing equipment including touch screens, bar code scanners, etc.
Maintain and organize incoming materials to make sure material is properly labeled and identified.
Complete and maintain all necessary paperwork associated with the above mentioned tasks.
Assist production in other areas as needed. (Kaizen activities as well.)
Train new associates to proper procedures in the area.

The Rubber Compounder is the process Engineer or Chemist for the rubber mixing operations. The primary focus of the position will be rubber compounding at our rubber extrusion and mixing facility which supplies rubber compounds for extrusion, calendaring, and other post processing operations. Process development, quality improvement, cost and processing efficiency will be the main goals.
A BS in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or a related field is required.
3+ years of Industrial Rubber experience is required.
Knowledge of Rubber Testing and Requirements is also required.
In addition to specific qualifications the ideal candidate will have demonstrated knowledge of: rubber compounding and manufacturing processes and rubber testing and evaluation methods. Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and 6 Sigma methods is a plus
