Under the direction of the Director of Cushion Operations, the Junior Cushion Developer will create furniture cushions, covers, umbrellas and canopy patterns. He/she will also support the sales team with questions related to cushions. Specific responsibilities include:
Operate Solidworks or similar drafting program to create and develop patterns for sampling and production
Create computer patterns for existing and new designs
Partner with Cushion Stylist on new development and translate template patterns from paper to digital
Calculate and communicate costing of new development to Product Manager
Work with internal business partners to facilitate production samples for approval
Create documentation to ensure consistency of production designs
Respond to product inquiries via email as necessary
Other duties as assigned

Main Duties & Responsibilities
Fabricate and/or repair precision carbide and steel tooling (dies, jigs, fixtures, gauges, etc.) for the manufacture of aircraft quality fasteners, utilizing automatic and manual machines, and/or cutting apparatuses, and precision measuring devices.
Essential Duties, Responsibilities and Competencies:
Studies specifications such as blueprints, sketches, models, or descriptions to determine materials and machines required to fabricate part.
Computes dimensions, plans layout, and determines assembly method and sequence of operations.
Measures, makes, and scribes metal stock for machining.
Sets up and operates equipment such as lathe, milling machine, and grinder to machine parts, and verifies conformance of machined parts to specifications.
Heat treats tools and/or parts.
Examines standard to previously used dies, tools, jigs and fixtures, and recommends design modification regarding construction and function of part.
Meets and maintains productivity levels and quality requirements in support of departmental standards, goals and schedules.
Performs record keeping, housekeeping, and follows safety regulations.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent. Ability to apply basic concepts of algebra and geometry.

Education and/or Experience:

Position Title: Tool Maker

This job requires a unique skill set; including experience working with advanced high speed and high cavitation injection molds, mechanical/ electrical trouble-shooting knowledge, machining techniques and experience with designing and implementing new mechanical designs. This person must be able to accomplish organization goals by accepting ownership of assigned tasks and explore opportunities with engineering to improve efficiencies and processes.
Use repair tools such as punches, files, bench stones and other abrasive products in working with high precision, high cost components as necessary to repair injection molds.
Set-up and use milling machine as required to: rework damaged areas of injection molds and perform other injection mold modifications of a complex nature.
Disassemble, clean, evaluate and repair molds of various sizes and configurations.
Change mold components such as cores, core inserts, cavities and cavity inserts, cams and cam inserts on injection molds.
Visual aptitude – must be able to see with or without correction.
Communication – ability to communicate verbally or non-verbally.
Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds.
Ability to perform standing job for 10 consecutive hours.

In this role the applicant must be able to:
Layout and fabricate a variety of tools such as simple jigs, and fixtures and patterns to close tolerances.
Develop and fabricate simple templates and form blocks. - Layout, fabricate, assemble and finish small scale display models, simple mockup parts and details.
Work from templates, sketches, drawings, change orders and verbal instructions.
Build simple frames and supports and operate model shop machines including wood lathes, drill presses and use wood working hand tools.

Checks tool steel clearance. Checks timing of die (cutoff to form). Checks slug holes and other interference's and all other die related operations.
Documents all changes on the die drawing relaying information to the designers, so the CAD files can be updated.
Monitors the various die components needed per job and meets due dates.
With assistance by the trainer, tests own dies to ensure proper function and readiness for inspection by Quality Assurance.
Resolves problems on dies using input from the trainer.
Performs all duties in a safe manner, complying with the safety rules and regulations.
Maintains a safe and clean work area.
Uses Axapta software programs to enter time/payroll information, job information, etc.
Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Graduation from high school or equivalent.
