The Network Operations 2018 Summer Internship Program is now open to ambitious and committed graduate studies looking to gain hands on technical experience and professional experience in a learning environment. This internship will give student the advantage of accessing our online learning platforms and mentorship program to grow their skills exponentially while working directly with respected industry leaders.

The program is 10 weeks in length and runs from June 2018 to August 2018.
As a member of the Provisioning & Application team, the intern will be responsible for customer premises equipment (CPE) activation, provisioning, and operations at Charter. This includes end to end management of all systems, servers, and applications that support over 60 million CPE devices. We are also responsible for the day to day care and feeding of all CPE; including testing, certification, firmware management, and configuration of all addressable CPE. We are an operations-centric service fulfillment organization; we keep the lights on, we take the call when things go bump in the night, and we take pride in that responsibility.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
This is an opportunity for a college student to obtain meaningful work experience through on-the-job training and work assignments. The student will work under the supervision of engineering staff on-site and gain insight and an appreciation for operations and engineering processes and activities related to the cable industry, specifically within the CPE disciplines.
General duties include:
Actively and consistently support all efforts to simplify and enhance the customer experience
Install, administer, configure and maintain CPE activation, provisioning, and operations platforms including operating systems and related software
Monitor and assist in managing applications, device availability, network conditions and status, system reliability and performance, service and program maintenance and storage resources
Generate reports on server and application availability and performance
Work with Product, IT Service Delivery and Advanced Engineering to determine needs
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Network Management or related field
Currently enrolled and completing the first year in a Master's Degree program at an accredited University
Must have at least a 3.0 GPA or greater in current Graduate program
Basic working knowledge of UNIX-based systems
Ability to read, write and speak the English language to communicate with employees, customers, suppliers, in person, on the phone, and by written communications in a clear, straight-forward, and professional manner.

As technical Subject Matter Expert (SME) lead improvement projects and support daily operation of process equipment systems including packaging line equipment (cartoners, bundlers, case-packers, palletizers, printers, labelers, vision systems, robotics). Diagnose and resolve complex manufacturing technical issues and develop technical solutions to improve process performance, quality, and cost. Engage cross-disciplined resources to support implementation of improvements aligned with site priorities. Provide ongoing technical support including validation, training and the creation of required documentation for new manufacturing equipment and processes.
Develop and lead Engineering projects designed to reduce waste, improve process capability, process reliability, increase OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness), improve quality and manage capacity as required.
Develop data acquisition and performance measuring techniques to gather and analyse critical data necessary to execute actions that improve product cost, quality and manufacturing reliability. Use operational data and performance metrics to analyze critical parameters necessary to identify and drive Overall Equipment Efficiency (OEE) and reliability improvements.
Manage engineering projects including scope, resource planning, budget activities, validation and project execution timeline. Communicate status of project milestones to key stakeholders.
Advise management of new developments which may affect profit, schedule, costs, customer relations, and/or inter-departmental relations.
Maintain a working knowledge of new technologies which may improve operations, and develop recommendations and plans accordingly. Identify innovative technical and process solutions that drive the desired performance in cost, quality, compliance, customer service and revenue.

BS or MS degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical, or Manufacturing Engineering. Advanced degree preferred.
Minimum 10 years of relevant industrial experience in Pharmaceutical or Medical Device regulated manufacturing engineering with emphasis on Process & Packaging Equipment Design, process improvements, and GMP CapEx execution.
Lean 6-Sigma Green Belt certification or equivalent, Certified PMP a plus

Proven experience in manufacturing Process and Packaging equipment design and technology improvements in a GMP environment.
Strong technical leadership capabilities with a proven ability to develop clear project objectives and work well in multi-disciplinary teams to solve complex problems. Proven track record of delivering to objectives.

These positions are for work in the USA and require candidates that are US citizen or legal residents with a current US Green Card. You must be able to pass a drug test and background check. Some of the physical requirements of this position are traveling / field service job that requires you to be able to be away from home for extended periods of time, the ability to lift safely a minimum of 50 pounds, perform physical work-related activities, and wear personal safety protection equipment (PPE). Employees must be prepared to work in different shifts, as required, to safely complete the assignment.
The Field Engineer will oversee the management of site activities including planning, organizing, integrating and monitoring of resources such as labor, tools and technical assistants as required to complete the work scope according to contractual requirements. The FE will work within defined parameters to make decisions, apply concepts to issues of moderate complexity, and resolve issues through immediate action or short-term planning at customer power generating facilities.
Provide customers with technical direction and support on GE/Alstom Boilers and associated support equipment.
Takes direction from GE Management to implement Upgrades and perform inspections on turbines and is responsible for directing lower level craft labor to perform the Upgrades/ Inspections
Signs off on all changes/Inspections performed
Complete standard service reports, invoicing packages, and other administrative requirements.
Drive customer satisfaction through commitment to Safety and Quality
Monitor site safety during project execution
Ensure all parts needed for the job are shipped to the site
Provide Parts numbers and quantities of additional items using GE Electronic Tools
Supply customers with proper drawings by using GE Electronic Tools
Perform walk-downs during installation/ Maintenance to ensure that the customer's contractors are working properly
Perform aftermarket upgrades that need to be performed at the site level
Bachelor Degree (Chemistry, CE, EE, ME, IE or Environmental Engineering) from an accredited college or university and 4 years of experience, or 10 years of experience without formal degree, in power generation or technical field services industry
Minimum of 2 years of supervisory / leadership experience
Successful completion of required training programs
OEM trained on Boilers / Boiler systems
Successful candidates will have a solid understanding of Boiler Operation, Maintenance and Controls
In order to provide direction to others, this position requires technical competence in reading and interpreting electrical/mechanical flow and instrument diagrams, dial and laser alignment and thermal growth equipment.
Extensive travel to and from projects and various field assignments will be required with up to 100% travel
Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite (Power Point, Word, Excel) and ability to learn company and site-specific computer applications
