Perform a variety of security-related duties, depending on the posts to which they are assigned. PSO's shall answer questions and provide directions to visitors and building tenants. Typical duties include processing visitors by verifying identification, enforce property rules and regulations, contact agency sponsors or escorts, fabricating and issuing visitor passes, entering and maintaining data on visitor logs or automated visitor data base programs, detect and report criminal acts, and ensuring visitors are presented for appropriate personnel and package screening. Additional duties include prevent, discover, delay, and/or detain persons attempting to gain unauthorized access to property and/or personnel at the facility being protected.

PURPOSE OF JOB: To protect the students, staff, equipment and facilities of the Kansas City, Missouri School District. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: includes the following.
The security officer shall be under the direct supervision of the Assistant Patrol Manager to whose area they are assigned. General duties consist of preserving the peace, protecting District property, preventing criminal acts, apprehension of violators, enforcement of District policies, enforcement of the Student Handbook, and adherence to the policies and procedures contained in the Security Department's Operations Manual. Must be able to react to situations utilizing appropriate levels of force as required and within the Security Departments and District Wide level of force options.
If assigned to a school environment, the security officer shall act at the direction of the Principal of the school to which assigned for day- to- day activities. However, the security officer will remain under management control of the Safety Security Department Management.
If assigned to the Central Office Building, the security officer will be under the direct supervision of the Security Manager on duty.
Ability to observe situations analytically, impartially, and objectively to record them clearly and completely; must use sound logic and judgment to react quickly and appropriately in dangerous and emergency situations. Written reports should be clear, concise, and complete with minimal spelling and grammar errors.
Shall familiarize themselves with Federal, State, and city ordinances as they apply to the School District.
Shall be familiar with all policies and administrative directives that affect the operation of the Security Department.
Respond to all radio calls directed to them by use of their assigned radio.

Airport Patrol Officer
THE POSITION Benefits Supplemental Questions
Under general supervision, provide armed airport law enforcement with arrest and detention authority to comply with Transportation Security Administration Regulations and utilizing the City's Airport Security Program; patrol the Airport property and enforce federal, state, and local laws, codes, ordinances, rules, and regulations; identify, apprehend and detain suspected violators, as appropriate; issue warnings and citations or initiate arrests, as appropriate; ensure that the facility continually operates in compliance with the Airport Security Program and the Transportation Security Regulations; assist Airport administrative staff with Airport tenant lease enforcement; serve legal and administrative documents related to Airport tenancies; and other duties as assigned. Applicants who do not currently possess the California POST Basic Course Module II Certificate or higher will be appointed as an Airport Patrol Officer Trainee ($1,850.31 biweekly) until at least POST Basic Course Module II Certificate is obtained.
Knowledge of: Principles and practices of airport patrol; criminal procedures and investigative techniques; California vehicle and penal code; firearm safety and self defense; Federal Aviation Administration regulations; modern office procedures, methods and computer equipment; principles and procedures of record keeping; pertinent federal, state, and local laws, codes and regulations.
Ability to: Make decisions in emergency situations to protect life and property at the Airport; enforce federal, state and local laws and regulations, departmental procedures, security guidelines and other regulations applicable to airport security; tactfully communicate rules and regulations to the public, airport tenants and unruly individuals; establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of duty; project a positive public image; document shift activities in written form; communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
Citizenship: Must be a citizen of the United States at time of appointment, or a permanent resident alien who has applied for and will obtain citizenship within three (3) years of this application for employment.
Age Requirement: Must be at least 21 years of age at time of appointment.
Applicant must possess a valid California driver's license at the time of appointment.
Work Schedule: Incumbents must be available to work all shifts Monday through Sunday, including evenings, nights, weekends and holidays, call back and standby duty. Airport Patrol Officers can be assigned either a 3/12½ work schedule (3 days, 12½ hours per day with a one 10 hour pay-back shift per month), a 3/12 work schedule (3 days, 12 hours per day with an 8 hour pay-back shift per pay period) or a 4/10 work schedule (4 days, 10 hours per day).
Appointees must possess a valid California POST Basic Course Module II Certificate (or higher) at time of appointment or successfully complete a City-sponsored POST Basic Course Module II Academy within one year.
If a Module II Academy is not available, the appointee may be required to complete a City-sponsored POST Basic Academy. Appointee must also successfully complete Aviation Security Training PC 832.1: a) for appointees who possess a valid POST Basic Course Module II certificate at the time of appointment, the PC 832.1 training must be completed within ninety days of appointment; b) for appointees who do not possess a POST Basic Course Module II certificate at the time of appointment, the PC 832.1 course must be completed with 90 days from the date the appointee completes the POST Basic Course Module II Academy. Applicants who do not currently possess the California POST Basic Course Module II Certificate will be appointed as an Airport Patrol Officer Trainee until POST Basic Course Module II Certificate is obtained.
Applicants must not have a history of personal or criminal conduct which would affect suitability for employment as an Airport Patrol Officer. Ability to speak Spanish is highly desirable.

The Professional Security Officer is the heart of Allied Universal Services. Physical and Mental Functions:

Qualified applicants for the Professional Security Officer position will meet the minimum requirements, as described below:
High school diploma or equivalent required
At least 21 years of age
Must possess effective written and oral communication and interpersonal skills with ability to deal with all levels of personnel and the general public in a professional and effective manner; must be able to use initiative and independent judgment within established guidelines
Must be able to frequently prepare written reports and logs in neat, legible handwriting; may require computer skills
Must be able to read and understand all operating procedures and instructions
Must be able to obtain a valid Guard License as required in the state for which you are applying
As a condition of employment, employee must successfully complete a background investigation and a post-offer/pre-employment drug/alcohol test
As a condition of continued employment, employee must maintain current active status of all required License at all times, and must carry the license at all times while on duty
