Machine Operator Apprentice
Reports To: Supervisor and Plant Manager

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Responsible for all activities associated with running a Flexo or Rotary Die Cutter including: setup, operation, cleanup, and recommending improvements to operations.
Sets up and runs the Load Former, feeding the machine
Reviews job tickets, print cards, and quality inspection paperwork with machine Captain
Sets up and operates the pre-feeder.
Reads job order and mounts specified rubber print plate and printing dies on cylinder.
Installs cylinder on shaft, and secures assembly in bed of press.
Fills dye fonts with prescribed inks or dyes.
Moves levers to engage dye rolls, adjusting position of cylinder to print two or more colors without overlapping or smearing previously printed area.
Starts press, adjusting speed, tension, and alignment of printing plate as necessary.
Cuts sample of printed material from end of printed roll and inspects for imperfections, such as blurred or off-center impressions.
Cleans rubber plate, cylinder, and dye fonts, using solvent, and lubricates press as needed, using grease gun.
May mix inks or dyes to produce desired colors.
Sets up rails, print, and die cut section on machinery accurately in accordance with proper setup techniques.
Inspects all dies before and after run to ensure that any necessary repairs are made before the next run.
Ensures all bolts for cutting dies are in place and tightly secured.
Monitor box quality, including, but not limited to, loose liner, warp, correct size, and print.
Checks anilox rolls for damage.
Maximizes the utilization of equipment by operating the machinery at available capacity and speed.
Cross trains and assist Helpers, Stackers, and Bundlers with job duties on the machine.
Cross-train on other machines.
Completes necessary reports in an accurate and timely manner, including but not limited to: Production Data,
Machine Operational Status, Safety Data, Quality Data. Turn in maintenance work orders to supervision for needed repairs.
Must be proactive in the maintenance of equipment.
Switches duties with stacker as necessary.
Complies with all company policies and procedures, including safety and maintaining good housekeeping.
Adheres to production schedule. Makes recommendations for optimizing the schedule to meet cost, quality and service goals.
Reports any issues to Supervisor.
Adherence to company policies, including its attendance is essential.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Know and understand Weatherford's Enterprise Excellence Process and the Quality Policy and comply with all requirements of the Quality Systems Manual, Operating and Technical Procedures and Workplace Instructions.
Perform basic operational functions of CNC machines.
Develop a working knowledge of various types of tool holders, tools, boring bars, and inserts used on the CNC machines.
Maintain acceptable reject and scrap rates, production rates.
Mount, align, and secure tooling, attachments and work piece on machine.

Learn to calculate and set machine controls to position spindle in relationship to work piece and to regulate factors, such as cutting depth, speed, feed, and coolant flow.
Start machine and monitor displays and machine operations to detect malfunctions.
Stop machine to change cutting tools and setup according to required machining sequence to measure parts for conformance to blueprint specifications, using precision measuring instruments, under supervision.
Maintain proper maintenance of machine, equipment and facilities and keep in proper condition.
Identify problems and be able to correct them with some assistance.
Ability to use small hand tools as well as measuring tools of various types.
Responsible for keeping the Machine Shop area clean and orderly at all times.
Must understand and comply with all safety rules and company policies of Weatherford.

Set up, adjust and operate a variety of auxiliary binding machines containing several cutting heads, control surfaces or other attachments (i.e. inkjet and mailing devices, case making & decorating equipment, folders, cutters, collators, stitchers, drills, binding/gluing machines and/or set up automatic bindery machines containing multiple functions and station capabilities (power paper cutters, power collators and gatherers, power folders, power speed binder) which can be electromechanically combined with other equipment and devices to produce a complete bindery and finishing unit that processes printed sheets into final books, catalogs, manuals, directories, magazines or other completed products. Inspect equipment for safety issues. May operate automatic adhesive binding machines (perfect binders) that contain numerous interrelated process stations that are fed collated sheets or signatures and perform such functions as vibrating, milling, roughening, gluing, covering and delivering or stacking completed books, magazines or catalogs. Make needed adjustments to coordinate the multiple work stations on a single machine. Direct crew though all aspects of production. Monitor quality, output and productivity.
General knowledge of the more complex bindery machines (i.e. fully automatic binding machines (perfect binders), multiple station collators and multiple folding units, either individually or combined) to perform the full range of standard and specialized folds of printed materials.
Thorough knowledge of the setup, operating requirements, procedures, capabilities and limitations of one or more bindery machines to perform the full range of standard and specialized folding, collating and cutting of printed materials to complete a combined finishing product.
Ability to read and interpret written work orders or other job specifications containing bindery requirements which indicate the number and sequence of machine operations required to complete the work and to maintain dimensional accuracy in accordance with instructions provided; independently makes decisions on the type of equipment to be used.
Knowledge of the quality and machining requirements of various coated and uncoated types of paper stock.
Skill in setting up and adjusting machines for finishing operations and to refine such adjustments for the weight, color, machinability and quality of paper stock being used and to prevent machining impressions on the printed materials.
Must be able to calculate distances, clearances, and fits in combining machines. Skill in using the full range of standard and specialized tools and devices to adjust and maintain the functional accuracy and operating conditions of the bindery machines.

The main focus of this role is Pre-press prep/file layout (80% of the role), and the remainder will be Print Production Operator work, both Large & Small Format.
Preflight files using Adobe Creative Suite.
Color matching & correction to obtain proper PMS output.
Navigate server to retrieve client files.
Communicate with project coordinators/sales/client on the specs of their order.
Operate large format inkjet, latex, and flatbed printers, laminator, cut vinyl plotter and mounting equipment (experience a plus but willing to train)

SUMMARY OF FUNCTION:
The print operator will maintain continuous high-quality product from the beginning of the weaving process to the completion of the product on reel.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist associates as required.

The Machine Operator performs repetitive assembly operations to produce on-site drug test kits and components by performing the following duties in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures.
To perform as a Machine Operator successfully, you should be able to perform the following essential responsibilities satisfactorily and must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily as well as essential duties outlined in the Production Technician I & II positions. These requirements are representative, but not all-inclusive, of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Strip and Adulterant Strip Assembly -- Place drug test strips into devices and secure device tops where applicable. Visually inspect strips and devices for defects. Adhere adulterant strip to device.
Cup Table Assembly- Place assembled EZ Screen device, adulterant strip cassette (if applicable) and desiccant inside cup then place lid on cup before placing on conveyor. Visually inspect components for defects.
Final Packaging -- Visually inspect and count foil packages and place in either box or plastic bag. Put in other components as required. Label each box.
Be proficient at filling out paperwork (i.e. Process Report Forms, work orders, etc.)
Laminating/ slitting -- Laminate and assemble various components to produce "ten inch cards" and slit into appropriate sizes.
XJet Printer -- Printing of PV device tops
Perform line clearance at each area of operation between production lots.
Examples of other duties that may be assigned:
Device Wrapping (Doboy/Stratus) -- Place devices, desiccants and pipettes (if applicable) onto conveyor. Visually inspect for defects. Be proficient at starting and stopping the packaging machine.
Device Labeling -- Using label machine applicator adhere label to device.
Lateral Flow Spooling -- Respool lateral flow material.
Cutting of components -- Cut various components to appropriate size.
