Navistar's Purchasing & Logistics team is seeking a Senior Buyer – Sheet Steel / Aluminum to join their team!
To be a part of our growing team, you will need to use your expertise in Steel Commodity Purchasing to help internal clients find cost savings with external vendors. You will use your knowledge of steel and aluminum markets to create value for internal customers including Direct Procurement, Finance and Engineering. You will use all of your negotiation experience with both internal and external clients to implement cost reductions, negotiate supply contracts with steel mills, and oversee the status of Navistar's metal supply chain.
The Commodities Team manages $1B+ of raw material spend (ferrous steel and non-ferrous materials such as aluminum, copper, lead, platinum, plastics, petrochemicals, diesel fuel and energy) throughout the supply chain. This position will be responsible for all aspects of Sheet Steel and Aluminum with the goal of adding significant value to the company's bottom line. The candidate will serve as an internal consultant in the areas of commodity risk management, and will regularly report progress to Executive Leadership. The successful candidate will understand, analyze, forecast, communicate, and act on movement in the commodities markets. Also you will utilize advanced tools, such as Navistar's material brokerage (resale) program as well as financial hedges to effectively manage risk throughout the supply chain, reduce volatility, and produce better-than-market results for the core business.
Position Purpose and Requirements
Performs supply chain and logistics functions, such as material procurement, production planning, inventory control, outsourcing, vendor selection and distribution. Creates integrated processes among internal functions (e.g., operations, purchasing and logistics) and outside suppliers. Responsibilities are within the Supply Chain Management function as a generalist or in a combination of disciplines.
- Bachelor's degree and at least 8 years of supply chain, engineering or manufacturing experience

Start rate: $21.15 Per Hour + $.70 per hour shift premium for Swing shift (2:30PM to 10:30PM, Monday – Friday + O/T as required). The selected individual will be responsible for but not limited to the following obligations: Processes aluminum foil into sheets and stacks sheets into proper sequence to produce a completed laid up aluminum honeycomb HOBE block.
