RESPONSIBILITY: Under the direction of the operator as administered by the foreman, the helper has the responsibility of assisting in the set-up and operation of the machine to insure that quality products are achieved at a constant rate of speed in accordance with machine standards.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES include the following: (*Other duties may be assigned)
To assist in the set-up and operation of the machine. To assist with the tie on of a new roll of board.
Responsible for the quality of the product manufactured concerning packaging, labeling, and stacking.
Stack bundles in accordance with the Pallet Stacking Procedure as follows: Pick up bundles from delivery table and place on pallets per stacking procedure. Pallet height begins five inches off the floor and product is stacked up to 65" high. Ensure that pallet loads are accurately counted, tagged, and entered on the production report, when directed by the operator.
Ensure that job duties are performed in a safe manner.
When changing the job to run a different pattern:
Help remove the make-ready plate & die (approx. 180 lbs.) by pulling them out of machine, lifting up, and lowering to the floor. The make-ready plate & die are located 48 inches high from the floor, and must be pulled out of the machine 51 inches.
Help replace the die with a different die pattern.
Help remove the support plate, which weighs approx. 10-20 lbs.
Help remove the pin cylinder, change pins if broken, and replace cylinder in machine. Pin cylinder is located 50 inches high from the floor and weighs approx. 136 lbs.
Help adjust blank support wires by tightening adjustment screw, which are located 50 inches from the floor and approx. 34 inches toward the center of the machine.
Change the cutter gears by squatting down on your knees, using a 2 ¼" open-end wrench to loosen, then lift out. Replace with the correct cutter gear.
Help clean blanks out of machine by reaching about 32 inches toward the middle of the machine at a height of approx. 50 inches and removing rejected blanks.
Help re-install make-ready plate and die, approx. 180 lbs., by lifting from the floor.
Help change Transfer Plate.
Assist the operator to feed new board through the machine as follows:
Help operator flip roll stands, moving empty roll away and placing new roll in position.
Help operator manually turn the new roll for two rounds, cut board off square, tape new roll to the end of the old roll by reaching approx. 38 inches across the machine.
Help feed the roll through the machine after it is turned on. If the board breaks, the operator must hand feed the machine, approx. 55 inches high, by guiding the board over the rolls. Sometimes the helper may be required to climb on top of the machine to feed the board through the rolls.
After the operator has turned the machine on for a production run, proceed as follows: Help to set delivery wheels and catch wheel by reaching approx. 30 inches in from the edge of the machine using a wrench to tighten the delivery wheel at a height of approx. 50 inches. Assist in the inspection of the product coming off the machine to assure that quality standards are maintained.
Handle and stack the product as follows: Pick up bundles weighing between approx. 19 & 58 lbs. from a 45 inch high machine table, turn 90 degrees, and walk to pallet, stoop down, and stack boxes per the Stacking Procedure. Pallet height begins 30 inches off the floor and the product is stacked up to 65 inches high.
Follow all instructions that are issued on the work jacket and advise the foreman of any incorrect of non-recorded information that is necessary for proper set-up and operation.
Adhere to the food safety standards per SCT's AIB certification requirements.
Maintain a safe, clean and orderly working area.
Adjust to, and follow, new procedures and innovations, which would add to the efficiency and safety of the operation.
This employee must be safety-minded, able and willing to understand and follow all oral and written instructions and comply with all Company policies and procedures, as outlined in the SCT Company Handbook.
Regular attendance and reporting for work on time are necessary requirements.
The employee must be available for overtime work as needed.
Attendance at training sessions, when offered, will be required.
Saturday work may be required. Working on another shift may be required.

Receive and follow directions from the Operator and/or Supervisor.
Assist machine operator to set up pre-feeder, printing downs, die cut section, and ink adjustments accurately in accordance with proper set up techniques.
Help to ensure that quality checks are performed before, during and upon completion of each order.
Inspect machine during run and notify Operator when acceptable parts are not being produced.
Assist in cleanup of equipment.
Follow all company safety rules and lock-out tag-out procedures.
Maintain shop and shop equipment per 5S Standards.
May be required to stack parts up to 30 lbs. for a period of up to 12 hours.

Receives, rotates, cuts, wraps, and merchandises fresh and processed meats, including grinds. Assists in merchandising seafood, rotisserie chickens, prepared foods, and cheeses. Meat Cutter Associate
Cleans the Meat Department during the course of normal production work(for example, work surfaces, meat grinders, windows, mirrors, display cases and coolers) while following Company procedures, guidelines, and methods, and utilizing approved chemicals, supplies, tools, and equipment. The meat cutter is responsible for the cutting and processing of custom orders and standard inventory items.
DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Each employee is responsible for the food safety and quality of our products.
Accurately cut to trim and yield specifications as specified by information provided by cut tickets.
Provide communication to supervisor of any discrepancies between cutting tickets and normal customer purchases.
Pull raw materials and pre-cut inventory according to code dates and report any short shelf-life items to the supervisor.
Properly label all products and equipment to conform to all legal and safety regulations.
Properly and accurately record all necessary data to produce assigned cutting yield tests.
Accurately count product inventory levels and maintain levels set forth by supervisor.
Ensure that all product specifications are being met according to guidelines.
Maintain work areas in compliance with U.S.D.A. guidelines.
Assemble and tear down any equipment in work area at the beginning and/or end of your shift.
Properly clean, store and maintain all knives, scales, etc. assigned to you.
Manage profitability by achieving product yields and meeting deadlines for product readiness.
OTHER FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform other duties as assigned.
To know and understand the company’s safety and health goals and the objectives. Assist the company in achieving these goals by participating in the safety program.

Prior experience with portion cutting meat
Ability to perform mathematical calculations and conversions to determine amounts and sizes of products needed for orders.
Ability to read, write and communicate in the English language.
Ability to adjust to sudden changes in customer demands or operational goals.
Commitment to work until job is completed.
Interacts well with others. Good team player.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT
Physical strength to lift and maneuver 50-60 pounds. Standing, stooping and climbing are regular activities for this employee.
Employee must have the ability to negotiate throughout the production and warehouse areas unassisted without disrupting regular production and warehousing activities. Normal levels of eyesight and hearing after correction. Color vision is required.
The ability to touch, feel, manipulate fingers and limbs to operate various processing and material handling equipment is necessary. The ability to smell is required, in order to detect levels of wholesomeness and spoilage.
This position requires the candidate to be in refrigerated processing and warehouse areas. These areas are cold and wet and exposure to moving machinery and sharp surfaces are a regular occurrence. This is a high noise area.

A Day in the Life Typically Includes:
Adhere to all plant safety and environmental guidelines, policies and procedures
Train crew members on various parts of the die cutter to allow employees to flow to work and minimize production interruptions
Properly operate the flat-bed die cutter
Lead set-ups, troubleshooting and making machine adjustments
Lead crew to maintain and exceed set production goals
Ensure crew adheres to quality standards and communicate when defects are found
Hold crew accountable for maintaining equipment to appropriate standards
Keep work area clean throughout shift
Perform quality checks as required
What do you need?
Experience operating a flat-bed die cutter
High school diploma or GED
Experience troubleshooting manufacturing equipment
Willing and able to work in an environment which could require bending, reaching, pulling, pushing, heavy lifting, climbing stairs or ladders and working in high (e.g. elevated platforms/workstations, etc.) for at least 12 hours a day
Willing and able to maintain a strict adherence to safety rules and regulations, including wearing safety equipment
Willing and able to sign a confidentiality agreement as a condition of employment
Willing and able to lift and pull up to 35 pounds
What would put you ahead?
2 years' experience in a fast-paced manufacturing plant (dedicated assembly, warehousing, shipping and receiving not applicable)
Previous experience with preventive or predictive maintenance on manufacturing equipment
Previous experience using a computer for basic record-keeping and documentation functions
Completed coursework in manufacturing, mechanics, electronics or a technical field
Previous experience operating a Bobst Flat-bed Die Cutter
Salary and benefits commensurate with experience.
