This individual will be responsible for but not limited to:
Set-up and machine parts of all levels of complexity from blueprints or from scratch.
Proficient in using either OD or ID grinders to achieve specific finishers or close tolerances. (.0001 - .0002) on tooling or machined parts.
Perform accessory operations like deburring and cleaning of parts using various hand and power tools such as belt sander or drill press.
Work on highly engineered aerospace parts fabricated to precise dimensions.
Qualification and inspections of first piece Inspecting and documenting features per instructions.
Inspection of parts visually and using various measurement tools such as height gauges and Vernier Calipers, micrometers, roll check, measurement over wires. Handling of piece parts ranging in weight from 1lb. to 20 lbs.
Should have ability to set up operate Drake CNC Hobber with Fanuc control, Mitsubishi SE25A CNC Shaper with Fanuc controls, Reishauer RZ3015 CNC Gear Grinder.
Knowledge of basic shop math.
Understanding of metal-cutting applications and general machining practices.
High level of attention to detail and strong work ethic.
Most tasks require good hand/eye coordination and the full range motion of both hands and arms on a regular and repetitive basis.

Cylinder Prep Assembly Operator
Your role and responsibilities:
Operate cylinder saw (chop saw) to trim all collars, "J" chunks, and necessary reworks.
Operate the chamfering tool (die grinder) to chamfer all necessary collars, collar extensions, cylinders, and reworks.
Operate the re-surfacing lathe to repair damaged collars.
Use overhead cranes and maneuver heavy loads while using them.
Perform housekeeping tasks.
Operate lift truck.
Cover other cylinder prep positions as needed.
Support all activities within the department as needed or instructed; assist all positions in the department when possible.-
Incumbents receive training in basic operation of welding lathes and etch process as needed

Primary Purpose of the Job
Set up and operates all types of centerless grinders, abrasive cut-off machines, double disc grinders and any other type of grinder for production and experimental work orders. Operator will be held to established production and quality standards. Incumbent will have control to make minor adjustments to the process or machine after tasks are assigned. This position may handle confidential information.
Major Activities/Key Challenges
Set up all machines, following set up procedures, including through-feed and in-feed grinding machines; using proper blades, profile templates and appropriate die mounds for jobs. Operations are completed to a level to satisfy standards/quotas as listed on blueprints.
Checks dimensions and finish to close tolerances. Changes wheels, and dresses wheels to prescribed forms; straight grinding or profiled grinding.
Positions, aligns, and secures parts, using any type of holding fixture that may be required.
Sets up cut-off machines using proper tooling and may set up machines for operation by others.
Perform S.P.C. on all orders. Required to perform daily TPM (as required).
Keeps work area clean, safe in an orderly fashion on a daily basis.
Performs other tasks of equal or lesser skill as required.
Essential Knowledge & Skills/Education
Must have a minimum of two years related grinding experience or equivalent.
Must have demonstrated skills in communications, dependability and teamwork.
Must be able to read various precision measuring instruments.
Must be able to read blueprints, work orders and be able to understand basic concepts of S.P.C. and set-up/maintain an S.P.C. chart.
Employee owned tools are necessary for this position (see System Operator Procedures as to type).

Rework Grinder - Ssb1/159
To remove surface and subsurface defects from castings in order to meet customer specifications.
Objective: to review inspection paperwork, and grind and blend defect areas on castings; to blend welds to blueprint tolerances.
A. Reviews x-ray/inspection paperwork, sketches and blueprints to determine grinding requirements.
B. Removes surface and blind cavity defects from castings using rotary files, burrs, abrasives or belts to prepare castings for repair.
C. Blends and reworks repaired areas to specified tolerances; may
use hand-held sandblaster.
Objective: to assure compliance with customer specifications.
A. Verifies dimensional compliance using micrometers, calipers, ultrasonic testing and similar types of dimensional inspection devices.
B. Performs fluorescent penetrant inspection tests on parts to verify removal of surface and subsurface defects; applies penetrant, lets dry, washes off and inspects for defects.
3.Completes logs and records.
4.Provides work direction and training to junior-level grinders

Under close supervision, perform belt grinding operations to remove gates form a variety of company product castings.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Work from shop orders, instruction to smooth and grind a variety of gates; exercise care and avoid removal of casting features and obtain required smoothness and blending. Select and place abrasive belt; change pressure wheel. Manually manipulate part against abrasive belt to remove surface irregularities, blend contours and surfaces, and impart required surface finish. Check parts to close tolerance using micrometers, radius gauges, templates and fixed gauges.
Setup grinder and grind angled surfaces; set and position grinding jigs to control radii and other features as necessary. Select and change abrasive discs. Load part in jig and secure, operate manually to smooth and maintain features, obtain surface finish.
Detect and report improper operation and unusual conditions to proper supervision. Maintain work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition. Follow prescribed safety regulations.
Perform a variety of other tasks of equal or lesser complexity as assigned by supervisor.
SPECIAL SKILLS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Perform belt grinding operations on a wide variety of parts with some close tolerances involved. Requires the use of some judgment to select proper abrasive belt, check work to maintain tolerances and finish, perform other duties effectively, avoid removal of important surfaces.
Continuous mental and visual attention in material removal, selection of belts, checking parts, maintaining finishing and tolerances.
- Reports to the Pre-Finish Supervisor.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Use ordinary arithmetic, decimals, and fractions. Work from simple drawings and specifications. Use micrometers scale, rule fixed gauges involving interpretation.

Grinder / Finisher
A growing precision grinding department is seeking an experienced Grinder / Finisher. This is a “direct-hire” position that operates CNC grinding machines in the Park City area.
Job responsibilities include but are not limited to: Setting-up, editing programs, trouble shooting, and operating machines. Use a range of manual measuring tools to inspect machined parts is required as well.
Desired Requirements for the Grinder / Finisher position:
- Ability to set-up, edit and operate CNC ID / OD Grinding Machines and/or CNC mills & lathes.
- Must have an excellent understanding of GD&T.
- Previous Studers, Voumards or Okuma cylindrical grinder experience preferred.
- Prefer previous work experience in either ID and/or OD grinding. CNC grinding experience is required but manual experience is a plus.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area and maintain all equipment according to established procedures.
- Proficient reading and understanding blueprints along with understanding CNC programs. Previous FANUC controller experience helpful.
- Ability to manually inspect machined parts and verify conformance to given specs.

Surface Grinder Machinist
Polychem OMS Systems is a leader in designing and building of specialized equipment for several different markets.
