Essential Functions and
Complies with established job safety practices, policies, and procedures as specified in plant and corporate directives for safe performance of the work assignment.
Must be available to work night shift, 12-hours on a 3-4-4-3 schedule.
Supports and follows the guidelines of the food safety system.
Installs, maintains, and troubleshoots machinery and tooling. Ensures that parts and tooling are in accordance with instructions, prints, and work orders. May be required to make drawings or sketches of parts to be made or repaired.
Proficient in the use of all shop equipment to install, maintain, and troubleshoot machinery and tooling.
Interprets drawings, calculates, and determines indices, tapers, and other dimensions to be used for part(s), working raw materials into finished dimensions with exact tolerances per print.
Performs layout work as required.
Receives tools and paperwork; establishes and maintains logbooks.
Selects, grinds, and adjusts tools ensuring correct speeds and feed rates of tooling for efficient machining. Ensures that parts and tooling are in accordance to precision requirements for both tolerance and finish.
Sets up and operates machine tools, lathes, and grinders.
Performs dismantling, fitting or assembly work required for maintenance of production equipment.
Repairs and maintains all assigned machines and equipment including preventative maintenance.
Performs organizational duties including maintaining an organized and clean work area.
Communicates pertinent information to next shift.
Performs clean-up, painting, and housekeeping duties.
Performs welding and heat treating as needed.
May monitor supply conditions and informs management as necessary.
May provide support for plant facilities maintenance.
Initiates, reviews, and follows all standard operating procedures (SOPs) for area of responsibility.
Broad training in a related field usually acquired through high school education, General Education Development (GED), or through equivalent work experience
Must have manufacturing plant experience with background in the following areas;
high speed industrial processing equipment
Must have working knowledge of electrical-mechanical devices.
Ability to analyze visual and electronic data and make appropriate process adjustments.
Should have ability to functionally use a computer, as well as experience using electronic/mechanical test equipment & mechanical and digital gauges.
Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills are necessary.

As a Gravure Operator, you will operate the Gravure Press, 10 color press and solvent adhesive based laminator in a safe and controlled manner that will ensure the safety of others and the quality of products being made.
AF Madison has a staff of around 150 co-workers. The Gravure Department is comprised of Operators and Assistants. Ink Technicians and Cylinder Techs support the Gravure Department.
This position is full-time, Monday-Friday but supports up to a 24/7 operation

Gravure Operators maintain the following accountabilities:

Check to ensure CTP units are on stand by mode and processors set for on line status. Inspect bender set-up, and stackers for leftover plates.
Verify square plate is marked, initialed for proper plate count. Performs quality control checks ensuring plates are accurately preserved, temperatures and stouffer step are properly maintained.
Ensure the plates are properly loaded into the CTP to prevent any jamming or damage to the cassette.
Performs quality control checks ensuring Soft proof of all digital file are accomplished prior to the page being made into a plate.
Visually inspect every plate for blemishes, struck marks prior to distributing to pressroom. Ensure plates illustrate the correct bend and punch locations to size for cylinders in preparation for press plating.
Ensures work area is clear of paper and or debris.Maintains a safe work environment. Follows instructions directed by the shift. Maintain daily preventive maintenance.

Examine offset printing plates for visual defects and apply correcting solution to repair minor defect or inform supervisor of unrepairable plates.
Apply packing sheet to blanket cylinder to build up blanket thickness to diameter of plate cylinder.
Measure paper thickness and adjust space between blanket and impression cylinders according to thickness of paper stock.
Adjust controls to regulate flow of ink and dampening solution to plate cylinder.
Start press, examine printed copy for ink density, position on paper and registration and makes adjustments to press throughout production run to maintain specific registration and color density.

Requires 10+ years of First or Second Pressman experience with an in-depth knowledge of the mechanics and capabilities of presses. Need to be able to accurately distinguish color variation. Journeyman or Master Printers of America Certification. UV, KBA 105, and/or Heidelberg 8 Color experience is a plus.

Responsible for all activities associated with running a Flexo or Rotary Die Cutter including: setup, operation, cleanup, and recommending improvements to operations.
Sets up and runs the Load Former, feeding the machine
Reviews job tickets, print cards, and quality inspection paperwork with machine Captain
Sets up and operates the pre-feeder.
Reads job order and mounts specified rubber print plate and printing dies on cylinder.
Installs cylinder on shaft, and secures assembly in bed of press.
Fills dye fonts with prescribed inks or dyes.
Moves levers to engage dye rolls, adjusting position of cylinder to print two or more colors without overlapping or smearing previously printed area.
Starts press, adjusting speed, tension, and alignment of printing plate as necessary.
Cuts sample of printed material from end of printed roll and inspects for imperfections, such as blurred or off-center impressions.
Cleans rubber plate, cylinder, and dye fonts, using solvent, and lubricates press as needed, using grease gun.
May mix inks or dyes to produce desired colors.
Sets up rails, print, and die cut section on machinery accurately in accordance with proper setup techniques.
Inspects all dies before and after run to ensure that any necessary repairs are made before the next run.
Ensures all bolts for cutting dies are in place and tightly secured.
Monitor box quality, including, but not limited to, loose liner, warp, correct size, and print.
Checks anilox rolls for damage.

Sets up and operates flexographic printing press to print designs on rolls of flexible plastic film by performing the following duties. Accountable and ultimately responsible for the quality and quantity of material produced and all related documentation.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
