Senior Scientist Dairy Applications
Position Purpose & Summary
The Cargill Minneapolis Research and Development Center works to develop innovative and high-quality products to partner with Customers and deliver solutions to the Food industry. This Senior Scientist position for Dairy Applications will be a member of our Plymouth based R&D Shared Capabilities team and will report to our Minneapolis Research Center Food Applications Manager.
The position will be focused on innovation and product development within Cargill's ingredient portfolio, with an emphasis on dairy applications. This person will also support new Dairy product development initiatives within Cargill's ingredient portfolio. The role will focus on sensory driven innovation to help move ingredients from Concept to commercialization while collaborating with other technical and business teams, including our sensory group. Research efforts will also involve cross-functional interaction with commercial and technical service teams, as well as customers. In addition, this position will require flexibility to assist with other applications team projects and shorter-term projects, as needed, using other ingredients across dairy applications categories.
This position will provide direction, technical excellence, project management, and execution to the projects across the Dairy Application space. This position will primarily work on the application of Starches Sweetener and Texturizers Business Group (SST). They will formulate ingredients into dairy products to assist the SST team with business opportunities. In addition, this position will assist other applications teams and business groups as directed in a wide variety of ingredient projects for Cargill's customers as needed. This position creates significant opportunities for customers and Cargill by developing unique dairy solutions and technically insulating the resultant intellectual property to assure Cargill has a means of sharing in the value created.

Assist Food Applications NA developers with bench top and pilot plant processing, eg, ingredient scale up, getting equipment ready, post pilot trial clean up, equipment maintenance, sanitation and cleanliness of pilot plant, shipping and receiving of ingredients and protototypes.

Dairy Program Licensing Associate
The position is a member of an independently operating team, which monitors a dairy record management system for all dairy programs in the State. This position is responsible for Dairy Program administrative oversight of Department regulations, which meet or exceed the standards set by the Federal Drug Administrations Pasteurized Milk Ordinance (PMO) whose regulations affect licenses and permits.
This position also monitors milk producer records to determine when enforcement action is necessary. Program facilitation in issuance of dairy licenses and control and maintenance of farm files and computer records constitutes a large portion of the work duties. Considerable communication with dairy industry personnel, other state enforcement agencies, and other Department operating units is essential to the position.

Your key responsibility is to drive pipeline through marketing initiatives and the promotion of your assigned Givaudan product lines and technologies. Your key success factors are based on your ability to make an impact on the Givaudan B2B customers and your aptitude to work effectively in a cross functional environment. Although within our technical marketing team - this role is more technical sales in concept and drive needed for success in role.
Product & Technology Commercialization: Drive the commercialization of new products and technologies in the region (develops promotional plan, sales force training, customer visits). Work with the technical group and the technical manager to prepare and support the external launch of new products and technologies.
Define product and technology needs and gaps, quantify opportunities, and establish business justification for new regional projects. Ensure that new ingredients and regional versions of flavors/ingredients are provided to all relevant sales and technical teams with all appropriate information related to the new products (regulatory requirement, pricing etc). Support reactive projects as required and where global strategic investments products/technology is involved.
Portfolio Management: Manage assigned regional portfolio to ensure it is relevant, complete, competitive and profitable, and aligned with the business strategy.
Own the Definition, Development and Commercialization of any regionally-driven product development efforts collaborating closely with team members. Regional subject matter expert for assigned products and technologies. Identify non-performing products and recommends deletion where appropriate. Develop and maintain knowledge of competitors products, communicate changes and recommends corrective responses.
Utilize the very best of you: Engage with sales team and directly with customers to ensure our customers know and understand our capabilities and new innovations. Build an ongoing pipeline of innovation presentations in alignment with global and regional strategic priorities.

Your professional profile includes:
Bachelor's Degree in a technical background (Food Science, Biology, Chemistry, Microbiology, Biotechnology), with a minimum of 5 years of experience in food or flavor industry
Technical or B2B Marketing experience in an international environment is an advantage
Excellent oral and written communication in English (other languages advantageous) and strong presentation and project management skills
Willingness and ability to travel throughout the region on a regular basis and often with short notice
Strong influencing skills and comfortable across diverse functional groups -- working with people from technical, innovation and sales related backgrounds
