The U-M Michigan Medicine Chief Information Security Officer is seeking a candidate to fulfill the role of Disaster Recovery Planner to help lead the Michigan Medicine Continuity and Resiliency efforts in close partnership with Health Information Technology & Services. This role will provide support in developing and
managing a series of complex projects that are aimed at maturing our cybersecurity and infrastructure business continuity and recovery capabilities that are used throughout the academic medical center and across the three missions of research, education and patient care.
The candidate must be a highly motivated, results-oriented, and data driven professional that is responsible for assisting in the maturing of core information security capabilities in our staff and systems.
Under general direction of the Cybersecurity Risk Manager, this role is responsible for all Information Assurance aspects of the development and implementation of assigned projects and provides a single point of contact for those efforts.
Development of a cooperative strategy, policy, guidelines, training and templates for cataloging critical Information Technology (IT), Operational Technology (OT), & Medical systems and functions and for overseeing the development and implementation of enterprise continuity plans.
Assess the current state of enterprise continuity planning and implementation across the Michigan Medicine, coordinating with existing enterprise continuity efforts.
Collect and review current enterprise continuity plans across HITS and Michigan Medicine and provide feedback.
Co-lead the Continuity and Resiliency program within HITS with primary partnership from HITS Enterprise Infrastructure.
Develop and report valuable metrics that Service Providers (IT, OT, & Medical) can leverage to track and trend continuity implementation progress.
Periodically coordinate tests of the disaster recovery plans within HITS and Service Providers that can inform metrics.
Product manage supporting DR/DCP tools and supporting processes for use within Information Assurance.
Participate and contribute to efforts aimed at maturing Michigan Medicine Emergency Communications and response procedures, products, and policy.
Track emerging continuity technology trends and topics, and act as a subject matter expert Michigan Medicine and its affiliates can leverage.
Coordinate and participate in hospital and health center emergency management and continuity efforts
Develops and implements short-and-long range goals and methodologies to support continuity and resiliency for Michigan Medicine generally, and HITS and Service Providers (IT,OT, & Medical) specifically. Assesses current state of Michigan Medicine enterprise continuity, including state of planning, capabilities, and resource allocation. Develops standards and procedures to document, define, and rank by priority systems and processes which are critical to Michigan Medicine and UMHS operations. Develops standardized template definitions and documentation for business impact assessments, enterprise continuity plans, training, and testing plans and schedules. Develops procedures to ensure changes in corporate resources are recorded and recovery plans and vendor contracts are adjusted.
Coordinates and develops the continuity user community within Michigan Medicine, liaises with department and units to develop and define responsibilities, and builds effective working relationships. Collaborates and provides expertise to HITS and Service Providers for Michigan Medicine enterprise continuity efforts. Provides Michigan Medicine with direction in coordinating, developing, assessing, and communicating continuity activities, including awareness and testing plans. Recommends recovery strategies and options. Assists service providers in resolving issues related to recovery plan development or enhancements. Develops status reports on continuity plans, and prepares management reports. Analyzes and reports on implications of regulatory requirements and industry best practices. Review of new and existing contracts and SOC2 reports to ensure vendor DR responsibilities are defined.
Collaborates with HITS divisions to partner in the capabilities and functions that plan, develop, manage, coordinate, implement, and oversee the testing of systems recovery and business continuity plans. Tests readiness to ensure the university can respond to a disaster and that critical business functions can be resumed with minimal downtime, and within a predefined time frame. Helps assure recovery procedures are effective for the restoration of key resources and for the resumption of critical business processes by ensuring that the recovery solution, recovery time, and recovery point meet business requirements.
Makes recommendations for, and develops and implements improvements to the program to meet future changes to mission, scope, and requirements. Monitors and stays informed of technological, legal, and operational changes that affect the activities and work processes of the program. Collects, compiles, and analyses program activity data. Independently develops, writes, and presents program reports to appropriate personnel.
Participates in DR/BC planning professional organizations and local/regional continuity groups. Designs, develops, trains, and evaluates enterprise continuity training and related educational programs. Participates in campus All Hazards Forum and Committees as appropriate.
Bachelor's degree in Business, Information Management, or related field and/or equivalent combination of experience, certification, and education.
Minimum 3 years experience leading and maintaining a business continuity/disaster recovery program. CBCP certification.
Experience in developing and implementing risk management methodologies.
Experience developing scalable and replicable plans, procedures, and processes.
Experience in project coordination/leadership, matrix management, process mapping and improvement.
Experience in developing, prioritizing, implementing, and monitoring business continuity and disaster recovery processes and procedures.

We are looking for an experienced and highly motivated program manager who will be responsible for the efficient and effective management of our data center(s) and disaster recovery operations. This role manages complex schedules, budgets, multivendor environments, and broad interdependencies.
Managing multiple, simultaneous data center projects from inception through completion/migration
