Job Description:Position Summary:
This position is responsible for performing repetitive deburring operations, interpreting blueprints and drawings, setting up and operating deburring equipment and hand tools, polishing and cleaning parts, inspecting deburred parts, using material handling equipment and performing basic assembly operations.
1.Perform repetitive deburring operations by removing excess metal and surface defects from parts.
2.Interpret blueprints and drawings and follow manufacturing processes and procedures.
3.Set up and operate deburring equipment and hand tools, including die grinders, drill presses, orbital sanders, buffers, knives and bead blasters.
4.Polish, grind and clean parts.
5.Inspect deburred parts to ensure conformance to quality specifications, using gauges, microscopes and other measuring tools as required. Follow procedures as needed to address non-conformities.
6 Use material handling equipment to move materials and parts throughout the shop.
7.May perform basic assembly operations.
8.Complete required documentation for all jobs responsible for.
9.Maintain a safe, clean and organized work environment, adhering to 5S principles.

JOB PURPOSE & SUMMARY OF POSITION
The tube technician is responsible to manufacture Nitinol Tube in compliance with Johnson Matthey business practices. The individual must have the ability to arrive at work on time, follow all JM business rules which include but are not limited to Health and Safety, Code of ethics, JM Values, San Jose site specific EH&S and QMS procedures. The individual reports to Tubing Lead/ Tubing Supervisor.
Follow JM safety principles and contribute to behavioral safety. The use of Personal Protective Equipment as well as the use of applicable machine guarding is a primary responsibility of a tube technician.
Participate in activities such as behavioral safety programs, safety stand down, department tail gate meetings, etc. that may result in continual improvement, mitigating risks hazards in the production of Nitinol tube.
Responsible for manufacturing of the Nitinol tube using various equipment, such as draw benches, bull blocks, pedestal grinders, annealing furnaces, pointers, mandrel insertion station, centerless grinder, swaggers etc.
Tubing technician must be able to use measurement devices, such as laser micrometers, calipers, rulers for dimensions and microscopes for visual inspection.
Accurate completion of documentation such as travelers, records, forms as required to manufacture tube.

The Machine Tool Operator determines proper feeds, speeds, tooling, and operation sequence or selects those prescribed in drawings, blueprints, or layouts. This worker may be required to select proper coolants and cutting and lubricating oils to recognize when tools need dressing, and to dress tools. MAJOR JOB ACTIVITIES:
Performs work involved in the manufacture of forgings, and other fabrications, through the use of machine tools and precision handwork.
Sets up and operates most types of conventional machine tools such as lathes, vertical and Horizontal boring mills; bench, plain or universal milling machines; shapers; internal and external grinders; thread grinders; and radial drills.
Frequently uses a variety of auxiliary machine tool attachments such as rotary vises, dividing heads; taper attachments, magnetic chucks, vertical milling heads, tapping attachments, rotary tables, etc.
Lays out work from blueprints, sketches, work orders, model of part or tool to be made, or other specifications; determines which machine tool would best be used for each operation to be performed, which attachments are to be used on each machine, and the proper sequence of operations on each machine; and makes new job setups on a variety of different types of equipment involving accurate alignment in order to maintain specified overall tolerances.
Determines speeds, feeds, and coolants, lubricants or abrasives to be used to cut, turn, drill, mill, bore, tap, ream, lap, hone, shape, grinding, or finish item.
Maintains dimensional accuracy during these processes through the use of precision measuring instruments such as veneer calipers, inside and outside micrometers, surface gages, height gages, squares, and dial indicators.
Uses shop mathematics and handbook formulas in computing dimensions and in planning and laying out work.
Maintains bench stock needed for machine shop, as appropriate.
Performs other duties as assigned.

1.High school diploma or demonstrated equivalent.
2.Eight years of experience as a CNC repair technician in an industrial production environment, or demonstrated equivalent combination of education and experience.
3.Demonstrated performance as a team lead on maintenance and repair projects.
4.Ability to travel 50% to remote work sites and business startups nationwide.
5.Valid Driver’s License.
6.Must have the ability to work in an aerial lift or scissor lift at heights up to 30 feet or higher.

Requires the ability to differentiate colors pertaining to wire color-coding.
Some tasks will require repetitive wrist movement.
Requires the ability to interact with all clients in a professional and friendly manner despite periods of stress.
Wear steel toe safety shoes, safety glasses, gloves, hard hats and other Personal Protective Equipment as needed.
Cope with demands (stressors) that are associated with the job and/or the work environment so that acceptable levels of performance and overall contribution are maintained.
1.Associates Degree in Industrial Technology, Industrial Mechanical, or related program.
2.Experience troubleshooting Allen Bradley / Siemens 7 / Fanuc /Mitsubishi 840 controllers.
3.Experience troubleshooting Gantry/Robotic systems and controls (Fanuc, ABB, Liehberr, etc.)
4.Experience troubleshooting CNC Machine tools, including but not limited to: Heller, Prism, ABA, Elb, Liebherr, Mazak, and Toyoda.
5.Experience diagnosing, troubleshooting and repairing process mechanical systems such as conveyors, filtration systems, and coolant systems to OEM specifications.
6.Experience with alignments and machine geometry using precision calibration tools.
7.Experience troubleshooting, repairing and working safely with 480v 3 phase electrical components.
8.Experience utilizing measurement tools such as micrometers, dial indicators, various type gauges, and calibers to set tolerances to OEM Specifications.
9.Experience using ball bar and laser equipment for alignments, calibration, and compensations of CNC controlled machine tools.
10. NFPA-70E Training.
Must be willing to work overtime when required. May be required to work holidays and weekends.
