GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: To plan, organize, supervise and review the work of a staff engaged in inspecting boilers and pressure vessels for conformance to the safety codes, regulations, standards and laws and in investigating any accidents to determine their cause; and to do related work as required.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Works under the general supervision of a superior with latitude for the exercise of independent judgement; work is reviewed upon completion for conformance to laws, regulations, standards, codes and policies.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED: Plans, organizes, supervises and reviews the work of technical personnel engaged in the inspection of boilers.
Illustrative Examples of Work Performed:To schedule, assign and review the work of technicians performing initial, annual and periodic inspections of boilers, pressure vessels and related machinery in order to determine if there is compliance to all appropriate safety codes, regulations, standards and laws.
To be responsible for a thorough investigation of all boiler accidents to determine their cause and to identify unsafe conditions.
To provide ongoing training for inspectors in the methods and techniques of inspecting boilers and technical assistance in regard to complex problems, equipment and inspections.
To act as liaison and representative of the jurisdictional authority with professional societies and insurance companies licensed to write boiler and machinery insurance within the state.
To review all reports submitted by authorized insurance company inspectors and determine if additional action is necessary.
To conduct quality control reviews of code shops within the state which manufacture unfired pressure vessels.
To certify unfired pressure vessels that comply with national safety standards in order to allow their sale out of state.
To act as an inspection member on quality assurance surveys and audits of shops holding nuclear certification.
To attend conferences to develop coordination between agencies and to promote technical and professional services.
To prepare various reports regarding boiler and pressure vessel inspections and regulations.
To do related work as required.
Required Qualifications for Appointment:
KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS AND CAPACITIES: A thorough knowledge of and the ability to interpret safety statutes, regulations, codes and standards as they relate to the inspection of boilers, pressure vessels and related machinery; a thorough knowledge of and the ability to apply standard methods, principles, practices, and techniques of safety inspections of boilers, pressure vessels and related machinery; a working knowledge of the various components and their functions in boilers and pressure vessels; the ability to plan, organize, supervise and review the work of a staff engaged in the inspection of boilers, pressure vessels and related equipment; the ability to prepare reports containing findings, conclusions and recommendations; the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with manufacturers, boiler owners, other safety officials and coworkers; the ability to understand the mathematical, mechanical and electrical principles in the design of boilers and related equipment; and related capacities and abilities.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Education: Such as may have been gained through: graduation from a senior high school or a vocational training school; and
Experience: Such as may have been gained through: employment as a skilled worker in the installation, maintenance or inspection of boilers, pressure vessels and related machinery.
Or, any combination of education and experience that shall be substantially equivalent to the above education and experience.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
At the time of appointment, must be certified by the National Board of Boilers and Unfired Pressure Vessels Inspectors as an inspector and supervisor of inspections and must maintain such certification as a condition of employment.

This is a full-time, non-exempt level position.
Position Summary:
- ADM is seeking a laborer to work as a deckhand under the direction of a Captain on a tug boat at one of our American River Transportation Company (ARTCo) fleeting locations in LaSalle, Morris, Seneca or Ottawa, IL.

Deckhand - Unlicensed
Under direction of Captain, Mate and/or deck boss, participates in all the activities of the vessel deck and/or fishing crew. Can include the setting and hauling back of nets and pots, loading and unloading cargo, tying up and untying to other vessels or docks and other deck related work as needed.
Essential Functions:
Assists with pre-season and day to day deck operations of the vessel. Responsible for operating the deck in accordance with Trident policy.
Assists in overseeing and establishing the performance and operation standards for all vessel deck equipment.
Assists in directing and overseeing launching, retreival, operation and maintenance of a skiff.
Must be able to safely operate or work with cranes, hooks, anchor winches, slings, and other lifting devices.
Must be able to direct and assist in loading and stowing of vessel supplies.
Must be able to safely and compently work in extreme weather and sea conditions as needed.
Must be able to, when trained, stand underway and anchor watches.
Must be able to follow to specific directions in the case of an emergency. Can include launching a raft, donning an Immersion suit or life perserver, assist in a response to fire or flooding.
Maintains a working knowledge of safety policies and regulations to ensure duties of self and others are performed in a safe manner.

Experience/Education:
Extensive seafood or related industry experience preferred. Two to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Catcher boats and Factory Trawlers:
2+ years of experience fishing in the fishery being applied for.
Baisc navigation and communication skills.
Basic engineering knowledge.
Knowledge in splicing wire and lines.
Basic net repair knowledge.
Basic ability to identify fish species for the fishery being applied for.
Basic firefighting knowledge.
Basic cooking skills.
Experience in setting and retrieving fishing gear in the fishery being applied for.
Freighters:
2+ years of experience working freight.
Baisc navigation and communication skills.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
Appropriate licenses/permits of trade (e.g., CG AB or OS license,. STCW endorsement, Firefighting etc.) when required.

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret , professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from senior vessel personnel. Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of email, spreadsheet software, word processing software and presentation software.
Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to outside weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; extreme cold; risk of electrical shock and vibration. Job Requirements:
Ability to follow direction and execute tasks under the supervision of captain or mate
Inland waterway decking experience preferred, but not required
Reading and writing skills sufficient to comprehend/complete a variety of documents
Ability to work in a flexible schedule; must allow for changes in assignments, and priorities depending upon identified needs of the vessel
Ability to work well independently as well as part of a team
Must be able to work in all types of climates

Ability to work extended hours, evenings, weekends and Holidays

Fleet Deckhands will be assigned to one of the following schedules:
- 3 day shifts, 3 night shifts, 3 days off
- 5 day shifts, 2 days off, 4 night shifts, 3 days off
Physical Requirements:
Candidates must pass a pre-employment physical, drug screening and Company human performance exam (physical ability test)
Standing for prolonged periods of time
Frequent heavy lifting
Prolonged periods of kneeling, bending and climbing stairs/ladders
Ability to work near or on large bodies of water, at various heights and in confined spaces

Fleet Deckhand – Red Wing, MN
This is a full-time, non-exempt level position.
Position Summary:
- ADM is seeking a laborer to work as a deckhand under the direction of a Captain on a tug boat at one of our American River Transportation Company (ARTCo) fleeting locations in Red Wing, MN
Job Responsibilities:
General housekeeping and upkeep of the vessel, including washing, chipping, painting, and cleaning
Tow work, including building rigging, and building tow for Lineboats
Fleet work, including preparing barges for delivery to local customers
