JOB SUMMARY / GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
This position is responsible for performing various stocking functions, maintaining continuous supplies of open-case product for pulling by selectors, operating power equipment and assisting supervisors on other assignments as needed.

This position is responsible for all operating functions as listed below. JOB TITLE: 3rd Shift Slitter Operator
Work Schedule: 12:00 a.m. (Midnight) to 8:00 a.m.
The Slitter Operator operates a slitter machine to cut mill rolls of paper for the sides and bottoms of paper cups (side stack and bottom stock). There is a variety of cup sizes for the sides and bottoms of cups and therefore the slitter adjusts the widths of the knife blades on the machines. As these mill rolls weigh an average of up to 3,000 pounds, a hoist picks up and maneuvers the mill roll onto the machine.
After the roll is secured and has gone through the machine, the individual rolls are weighed. The Slitter Operator will check daily schedule to determine what cutting/slitting needs are required for the day. The Slitter Operator will thread paper through the rollers and place blades down by utilizing wheel crank to secure the paper roll.
Slitter Operator will also evaluate the amounts of damage on slit and mill rolls to keep waste and damage to a minimum, maintain a well-kept and clean area, maintain material flow to and from the Slitter Area. Slitter Operator may be required to perform other necessary tasks throughout the plant including cleaning, general housekeeping duties, painting, sorting, cup-by-cup, lid-by-lid or tasks of a clerical nature. All employees must follow all Graphic Packaging International safety procedures and policies including wearing personal protective equipment such as steel toed shoes, hearing protection and safety goggles.
