This position is within Santa Fe Natural Tobacco Company—the manufacturer of Natural American Spirit.
This position is responsible for efficiently operating production equipment and ensuring that manufacturing machinery is maintained in a manner that facilitates production of high quality products in the safest, most efficient and cost-effective manner. This position requires the understanding and following of work instructions and procedures.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Efficiently operates assigned cigarette packing/making equipment.
Continually monitors product quality on all applicable equipment.
Performs daily troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance for on-line production machinery.
Makes necessary corrections and running adjustments to maintain maximum production and quality.
Performs planned maintenance, preventive maintenance, and overhaul duties for emergency breakdowns on operations equipment.
Assists in planning and implementation of predictive maintenance initiatives.
Orders parts via SAP.
Assists with parts and machine fabrication and performs repairs to a high level of precision.
Assists with equipment installation and start up procedures to ensure project timelines are met and downtime is minimal.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITITES:
Set up and operate at top efficiency any four slitters in any finishing area and any three inspection machines in any area. This is from a power down situation to putting a finished order on the dock and everything associated with completing an order.
Identify and troubleshoot process, product, and quality issues with help from other areas as needed.
Fill in as necessary on any machine that you are trained on with minimal notice and assistance.

SUMMARY: This position is responsible for set-up and operation of the Herr Voss Slitter, Breaker and Packaging Lines.

#2 Make cuts while line is moving at a rate of 105 birds per minute. Should machine perform poorly must press button to alert maintenance.
#3 Always have the relief person to get behind the killer before moving off the line to go on break, lunch, and at the end of the shift.
#4 Assist with removing kill machine blades at end of shift. Only lock-out tag-out trained associates will be able to this.
#5 Help wash down area with high pressure hose at end of shift if necessary.

The Ashville Plant's manufacturing processes include continuous coil coating paint lines and metal slitting operations. Applicants assigned to the Production Operator position in the Production Department will perform job duties providing support (i.e. material handling) for the coil coating lines and slitting operations.

Assist and support slitter operator with set-up and maintenance of slitters and its area as well as label and package rolls onto a pallet based on customers specifications.
Use accurate math and measurements to cut cores to exact specifications
Assist with accurate and proper prep to setup the machine, including; prepare supplies for the job scheduled to slit, use core cutter to cut and prepare cores for scheduled job and assist operator to hang rolls on machine if directed
Assist with running jobs by printing out job packets
Assist with removal of rolls from the machine
Label and package every roll from machine according to customer specifications
Move slit rolls from table to skids using Dalmec when necessary (rolls over 50 lbs)
Move skids when full to banding area and band
Operate forklift to move pallets onto the stretch wrapper
Use pallet jack to move skids to the warehouse staging area
Enter toll and set numbers and print labels
Rewind rolls when necessary as directed
Maintain area around slitting, core cutting, stretch wrap and clean room for safety and efficiency including empty trash bins, core bins and Butt roll bins
Increase proficiency to a level that allows you to run through breaks and fill-in for Operator when needed
Assist operators with day to day operation if directed and as time permits

The Slitter Operator's task is to work in concert with the production department ensuring the quality and efficiency of the printed roll stock created by the printing department. The primary responsibility consists of running and managing the machine that automatically slits and trims printed roll stock.

Once the roll passes the visual inspection, print an "Inspected By" Label, sign and attach label to roll per appropriate method.
Complete Daily Slitter Report.
Complete weekly Emergency Stop Checklist and Crane Hoist Inspection Checklist.
Complete Slitter Width Control Chart as needed.
Record waste on the Slitter Waste Report and turn into the lab at end of shift.
Clean machinery and work area as needed.
Adhere to all safety requirements.
Ensures 6S standards are implemented and maintained.

Position Purpose: To convert various grades of coated and uncoated paper stocks for use in-house as raw materials, or in fulfillment of orders for shipment to customers.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
Be familiar and demonstrate knowledge of Coating/converting safety and quality SOPs.
Run slitting / converting orders as scheduled on various pieces of equipment.
Coordinate with Material Handlers in order to accomplish Departmental / Plant goals.
Keep trims to a minimum and utilize open stock. Rewind / splice open stock rolls to maximize roll efficiencies. Perform salvage operations, as directed.
Operate slitter, making all necessary adjustments in order to slit paper to spec.
Pre-plan and perform pre-makeready activities to minimize slitter downtime and to ensure all required production materials are ready for current and following shift.
Responsible for quality and quantity of product slit.
Complete log sheets and make entries into PECAS system in order to ensure timely and accurate communication of production and inventory information.
Coordinate with Maintenance Department in order to ensure equipment is in good operating condition and report any problems to department supervision.
Focus on the team process.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
