Serve as Field Safety Officer on assigned site investigation, remediation, and decommissioning/decontamination/demolition environmental construction projects to develop and implement site-specific Health & Safety Plans, including monitoring conformance with safety and emergency procedures, conducting daily safety briefings with the project field team, oversight of Contractor safety issues, and maintaining site safety records.
Coordinate the resolution of issues arising from the inspection process or from contract administration.
Plan and schedule on-site full- and part-time staffs, evaluate subcontractor performance and schedules, and negotiate and resolve change order requests.
Provide liaison between field activities and in-house Project Manager, assume prime responsibility in assuring completion of projects in the field in conformance with project plans and specifications, and assure that clarifications and interpretations required for proper execution of the contract are implemented.
Interface with in-house Project Managers to identify and track upcoming construction management requirements, meet with clients to identify upcoming work, and assist in business development activities, including preparation of proposals, interviews, and project contracting.
BS Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Construction Management, or related degree.
5 to 10 years of experience in environmental engineering and construction management consulting.
Experience with construction sites (DDD preferred) and management of the preparation of work plans, field efforts and report writing.
Experience implementing strict Health and Safety protocols. OSHA 40-hour training required.
Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in the state of California is a plus.
Ability to estimate, process and track project costs, transmittals, submittals and invoices. Working knowledge of cost estimating tools.
Ability to provide excellent project delivery and client service, quality on project deliverables; excellent communication and organizational skills.

The purpose of this job is to make cost analysis (after determining the extent of deterioration) as to the value of vacant structures citywide. Additional duties include testifying and making recommendations before a public board for the disposition of such structures

Photographs, sorts and labels structures to be used for court proceedings and/or enforcement activities.
Searches courthouse records, probate court, licensing bureaus, and Secretary of State to locate addresses for property owners and/or parties in interest to serve legal documents and notices for the public.
Estimates value of property, cost of repairs and determines percentage of deterioration in order to decide feasibility of demolition.
Prepares various types of reports, documents, etc. in performance of duties such as official correction notice, valuation form, notice of hearing, daily and monthly reports.
Files documents with the Clerk of Superior Court; removes satisfied lists pending from the court house records.
Communicates orally and in writing with department personnel, City officials, and outside professionals.
Testifies before the public board with recommendations for the demolition and boarding of structures; presents evidence to support testimony.
Meets with property owners to discuss and address problems, conflicts or concerns.
Makes property market analysis and cost estimates to determine what course of action will be taken against the property.
Determines if asbestos material is contained in the structures; test as necessary; measure quantity for removal to meet EPA regulations.
Inspects pre-selected substandard structures and completes official correction notice for submittal to property owners.
Meets with contractors to make an on-site calculation of the square footage of the structure; calculates cubic yards of trash and debris; calculates the cubic yards of fill dirt to price the demolition cost and/or cleaning and boarding calculations.
Re-inspect sites within sixty days of demolition to check for grass or ground cover.
Conducts re-evaluation inspection of previously boarded vacant structures

Wood is seeking a Demolition and Decommissioning (D&D) Project Director to build Wood's D&D portfolio in multiple sectors. These projects typically require coordination of a large number of inter-related tasks and management of multi-disciplinary technical teams and subcontractors. Wood's role in the D&D projects will vary from consultant, owners engineer, construction manager, or general contractor. The ideal candidate will assist our client with facilitating the acquisition and demolition program in Richland and Lexington County, South Carolina. The DPM will be required to inspect and manage the demolition of approximately 140 properties over the course of the grant (two years). Moreover, the DPM will be responsible for assisting Tetra Tech and County staff in bidding to the procured subcontractors for asbestos and demolition/restoration work. They will perform periodic inspections throughout the demolition of the home to ensure quality work and efficiency on site as well as grant compliance. The DPM will assist in submitting invoice approval recommendations and supply documentation, when requested.

Perform post-closing inspections to confirm structural integrity of the building, as well as identify any Household Hazardous Waste and need for additional public health or fire inspections by the County;

Assist in defining and editing scopes for demolition and asbestos bids;
