Dial A Ride Transit Driver
Moderate physical requirements, frequent bending, stooping, crouching, kneeling, squatting, pushing/pulling, lifting, carrying, and reaching from all levels. Position involves competing demands, performing multiple tasks, working to deadlines, frequent work at night, beyond normal business hours. Regular attendance is an essential function of this job to ensure continuity of services.
Position is subject to drug testing in accordance with applicable State and Federal regulations and City of Las Cruces policies. Work is performed in a transit vehicle and in a transit operations traffic environment, and is required to exit his/her vehicle to ensure safe operations and to assist passengers. •Operates a transit vehicle in accordance with established demand-responsive schedule/manifest in order to provide safe, secure, assistive mobility services to eligible program participants; assists riders to safely board and disembark the vehicle; secures all mobility aids in accordance with established procedures; provides passengers with verbal and written information regarding transit services, destinations, stop and cross-street announcements, policies, fares, and schedules. •Collects and accounts for accurate fare collection; performs daily vehicle inspections prior to beginning service; maintains order in the passenger compartment and contacts the police department in the event that a behavior issue cannot be resolved and poses a threat to passenger safety or comfort. •Assures all required written reports are completed and submitted on a daily basis including, but not limited to, incident reports, accident reports, and operational problem reports; cooperates with the investigations of customer complaints; attends and successfully completes all transit training as scheduled by the supervisor; demonstrates continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless customer service. •Assists with the collection of data as required by the Transit Department for the planning and scheduling of transit service; assists with conducting outreach activities of the department; assists with the distribution of customer literature.
Minimum Qualifications: Equivalent to a high school diploma PLUS six months experience operating a passenger transport vehicle. A combination of education, experience, and training may be applied in accordance with City of Las Cruces policy.
Experience working with the elderly or persons with disabilities, as well as bilingual skills (English/Spanish), preferred. Valid driver's license is required. Position requires an acceptable driving record in accordance with City of Las Cruces policy.

SALARY RANGE: $3,700 – $4,292 per month
TYPE OF POSITION:Full-time, Seasonal Career- April thru October (7-8 months) This position is represented by the WPEA.
Important Note: Once appointed to this position the incumbent will be required to pay union dues or other representation fees within the first 30 days of employment.

POSITION PROFILE: Under the direction of the District Engineer, the Heavy Equipment Operator position is responsible for maintaining transportation systems to Forest Practices standards within Alpine District, Ellensburg; assisting the District in meeting assigned deliverables; performing RMAP projects as required and performing fire suppression duties as needed. The Equipment Operator position:
Operates a Cat 143 size grader to perform maintenance on DNR managed roads;
Operates a D-5 size dozer doing road maintenance, fire trail construction, culvert installation and replacement, bridge replacement and other projects as assigned.
Operates an 8-10 yard tandem axle diesel dump truck with a 40-ton tilt-bed trailer for moving the dozer, hauling a 2,000-gallon slip-in fire tank, culvert pipe, and other equipment.
Operates other heavy equipment (excavator, vibratory roller, backhoe) as needed.
Hauls material for road repair, reconstruction, and repair projects. * Services, maintains and makes minor repairs to district heavy equipment. Qualifications REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: * Ability to operate heavy equipment such as Cat 143 size grader, D-5 dozer, 8-10 yd tandem axle diesel dump truck with 40 ton tilt-bed trailer, excavator, backhoe, vibratory roller, 40 foot boom truck, power brusher cutter, and various hand tools as needed.
