Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Loads/unloads parts on production line
Prepares parts for paint
Performs basic visual inspection for rust or damage.
Participates in problem solving and process improvement to correct failures to meet customer commitments or plant metrics and performance
Promotes and utilizes 5-S Standards for the line to improve efficiency, cleanliness, and safety

Set-up and operation of Diamond Turning machine for production of custom high-precision components. Working with single-point diamond turning equipment to manufacture high precision components for the Zygo Extreme Precision Optics Group in Richmond, CA.

Generate a consistent flow of high quality work through the diamond turning department.
Collaborate with supervisor and planning group to meet on-time delivery schedules.
Assist in continually improving procedures and methods with a mind toward efficiency.
Set-up and operation of CNC diamond turning machines
Maintain and assemble diamond tools in tool holders and positioning of tools in machine
Create, load, edit and store programs
Observe operation of machine to produce accurate and high quality parts
Perform difficult and complex set-ups and operate machine on assignments, under minimal supervision with direction from engineering or area supervisor
Fabrication of precision components out of various materials including aluminum, calcium fluoride, silicon, zinc selenide, among others)

Our Diamond Turning Techs follow specific procedures to produce precision parts and optics to be used in the manufacturing process. Programming may be required depending on level of skill and experience; complexity of parts increases with skill level and experience.
Set-up and operate CNC Diamond Turning machines from proven or new programs and other documentation with limited supervision
Follows instruction on routers and drawings and uses proper methods of producing a quality part
Inspect and document all specified features using a variety of inspection devices within the diamond turning department including interferometers, profilometers, and mechanical gauges to verify spheres, ashperes, flats, or other opto-mechanical components
Complies with ISO 9001 and follows Standard Operating Procedures
Maintains work quality with minimal supervision
May initiate and assist in developing practical solutions with engineering on problem jobs based on knowledge and expertise
Work cross functionally to define processes, tooling and fixtures
Depending on level, may be asked to act as trainer/mentor once proficient in Corning processes

Incumbent is responsible for grinding and polishing diamond optical substrates to the specified tolerances. Become a key player in a team of 3-4 powder coating technicians working with commercial grade powder coating systems. Wearing full face respirator and protective clothing in performing all aspects of manual electrostatic powder coating.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Include the following.
Duties include maintenance and operation of powder spray booths, manual application guns and fixed controllers, portable guns and portable controllers, color changeover procedures, and daily end-of day cleanup of area.
Changing out filters as required per maintenance schedules, and performing additional duties as assigned within powder coating department.
Cross training in other areas within the powder coat department will be necessary, and schedule rotation in and out of paint booth as needed by department manager.
