High Pressure Die Casting Development Operations Manager
Tesla is looking for a highly motivated technical Manager for our Aluminum High Pressure Die Casting development facility where you will be tasked with leading a team to install and commission new equipment in order to prove out product design concepts and novel manufacturing methods. This role will also be responsible for overseeing process development to achieve cast structural components per specified quality requirements and then ramp the process to demonstrate sustained high volume capability. You'll be tasked with building up a team of skilled process technicians to start, run and trouble shoot equipment and tooling under the guidance of their counterpart Engineering team. Once the equipment and process have demonstrated capability, it will be transitioned over to the production organization to sustain serial production. At that point, this leader and team will transition to the next project to launch, likely at a different site.
Run melt furnaces, melt transfer, melt holding/treatment, dosing, die cast machine (including the die, spray robot, extractor robot) and trim cell, including all day-to-day operations, including supervising the technicians operating the equipment prior to transition to production.
Build and lead the hiring for various high pressure die casting related technicians to operate the various pieces of equipment in all aspects.

Die Casting Process Engineer
Develops processes to support the Safety Systems Division in their efforts to increase productivity and quality by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Introduce all measures necessary to maintain best possible standards and process-reliable conditions in a highly automated, High-pressure Die Casting process. Responsible for supporting die designs, set-up samples and trial evaluations, including replacement dies or new model dies.
Participate in the development and implementation of improvement plans that target cycle time reductions and minimalize scrape. Experience with Die Cast tooling. Ability to manage die design and manufacture of Die Cast dies and all of its components.
Conducts activities to assure quick delivery, on-time launch/prototype parts of continually improving quality. Interface with design personnel at development stage to suggest designs that will improve efficiency and reduce cost. Communicate with quality assurance in developing dimensional, ES testing specifications to point out potential high scrap items and deal with them before design in complete.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION
Die Setters should be able to perform assigned setups of presses to ensure part is produced to specifications. Must possess advanced knowledge of powder compaction motions and demonstrate knowledge of fill, powder transfer, compaction and ejection. Must be capable of setup, advanced programming and troubleshooting of compaction presses. Must possess knowledge of auxiliary equipment with the ability to modify programs as needed to meet production requirements.
